Preload and release information - NOW OFFICIAL

Preload is officially stated to be live, and the unlock times are on the map in the linked announcement.

Zone 1 is South and South East Asia and Oceania, and unlocks at 5:01am AEDT (6:01pm GMT on the 4th)
Zone 2 is Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, all of Russia (European and Asian), Iceland and Greenland, and unlocks at 12:01am CET (11:01pm GMT on the 4th)
Zone 3 is the Americas, and unlocks at 12:01am EST (5:01am GMT)

Some users, such as in the UK, report that the Steam store page unlock countdown doesn't match the time above. 2K is aware of this, but there's no further information at this time. Personally, I'm hoping it's a display bug. UPDATE: This has now apparently been resolved, at least for the UK.

NB: if you have a key from a third party seller and it's not working, make sure you aren't entering two codes at once. Codes should by 5-5-5 (xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx). If the first code doesn't work on its own, try the second first.

XCOM 2 Release Time On The 5th Feb ?

After the pre-load, What time generally will Steam unlock the game GMT time on the 5th ?

I'm thinking for booking time of work. I preordered the Deluxe Version.

Same question, here, bboy. I booked off the 5th and 8th. I plan on four days of XCOM 2.

XCOM 1 pre-loaded four days in advance, so I assume XCOM 2 will do something similar. It released at midnight, eastern time.

This post is from XCOM 1, posted on the 5th of October. The game released on the 9th.

If i had to take a guess i'd say 10AM PST - Pacific Standard Time, as that is when Steam normally updates and also when many new games are released.

Didn't Enemy Within get a midnight release, too? And that was just an expansion.

On Steam it didn't get a midnight release. Can't speak for everywhere else, though.

I'm almost certain it was a midnight release, because I remember freaking out when the release time suddenly changed with only 24 hours to go. And then being very upset when I couldn't get the game to launch at all after midnight and just going to bed.

Could be wrong but I seem to recall xcom1 saw a midnight release in the UK and delayed from the US launch with the old tuesday friday split. Pretty sure there were multiple threads about legitimacy of unlocking early via vpn's.

My 50p would be on a either midnight or 6pm time (GMT)

Having seen the install size of 45gigs I'm hoping GMG get their codes out in time for a preload and that there will be a decent amount of squeezing going on with the files that are preloaded.

It this day and age, how hard it could be for Steam to make the game available in each timezone at 00h00 precisely? It si just not a matter to time the Steam platform accordingly in each area?

This is the very first time I pre ordered a game. Xcom 2 made me decide to stop pirating games. So, can someone enlighten me about pre loading stuff? Also when will they release it in Asian time?
