XCOM 2 Resurrection Prequel Summary
I've noticed some people curious about the Prequel book who haven't been able to buy it. LUCKILY, there is someone on Youtube who has summarized the entire book. Each video is about 5 minutes long. Some of them longer, but he covers all the important stuff.

You can see the entire playlist by going to this link -

Hope you guys enjoy it! I'm going to go off and finish the book myself. xD

Yeah I tried listening to it. The guy does a good job. But the story is so freaking horrible. I'd much rather have some sort of bullet point approach of the highlights of what happened.

I'm sure the most important points will be covered in the introduction segments of XCOM 2. We haven't gotten to see the actual tutorial missions yet, since those are still covered by the NDA.

It's written like a video game, for gamers. It's nice that it lends some more context to the upcoming game.

the only thing i dident like about it was the romance sub plot. it felt really unnessercery and out of place and the worst parts of the book easily involve the two of them.

i feel it could have been much stronger if it dropped that sub plot entirely as i felt the author captured the squad working together quite well and relayed the struggle and to an extent the horror of fighting an alien force that can mind control your friends or turn them into an egg.

Agreed, romance plots should be cut from most stories.

I had no problem with the romance element being there, it was just ham-fisted and clearly written so as to avoid indicating anyone had sex.

I also appreciate the attempt at making characters seem more human, and that they have feelings. But in the end it just didn't fit, it also started as more of a suggestion than in your face.

It made a reasonable progression of stages for a fictional relationship. Though it seemed mostly written as if to say to teenagers "look, your ham-fisted attempts at romance are normal".

It did a pretty good job of explaining the differences between the New Cities and Outcasts. The romance was hamy but, come on, it's XCOM. I didn't pick it up expecting the Iliad or the magnum opus of a literary great. It was hammy 80s action movie fun.

And the real romance in that book was between Dr.Shen and the Avenger.

All SciFi stories need a shoehorned romance!
