Phantom on sharpshooter
AWC gave the Phantom perk to my sniper. Turns out this made my sniper pretty useless because he won't shoot in overwatch!

Any idea how to use this perk effectively? Other than being a scout lol.

Use the AWC to respec him as a gunslinger, and then use him as a forward scout. After the first ambush (assuming you kept him concealed for that), you can have him pop in any time from any angle and break off a Lightning Hand + Quick Draw + Fanfire/Faceoff sequence from a flanking position.

If you need your sniperto fire during an ambush, have him be the one who triggers the ambush by opening fire, when everyone else is on overwatch. This doesn;t use theperk but effectively bypasses it.

If you don't need your sniper to fire during an ambush, then sneak your sniper into the best firing places ahead of your group (building roofds etc.), where he/she can see far ahead to spy for the others. This not only gives you advance information and puts your sniper in a firing position out front instead of running to catchup, it also lets your sniper see any nearby pods ahead, which you mgiht otherwise trigger when abuashing the firstpod (such as if moving rangersclose for shotgun/slash and triggering that pod).

Use death zone or however its called in english, you know to shot multiple target in his view cone, it actually force him to shot even if he has phantom(I am pretty sure it works, can't remember exactly but I had a sniper with phantom and he would always fire with this ability)

so I have built AWC for a while, but none of my soldier gained randomized cross class skills!

help, how exactly do I get those skills? I've even tried to retrain my better soldiers but I didn't get any new skills? what am I missing here?
Take Kill Zone as it will ignore Phantom and fire regardless.

When you build the AWC, it picks a perk for each soldier and the rank that it will unlock that perk. Once the solider hit that rank, you'll get the new perk... but it's not retroactive. If the AWC decides that place a perk at Corporal on your LT soldier, then that soldier will never get the perk. This is why it's best to build the AWC as early as possible if you want the extra skills- if you rank up your soldiers a lot before building it, you greatly cut down on the number of times that you'll get the bonus skill.

Just manual fire to get rid of the overwatch gee people don´t even shoot in there term anymore ?
Or use killzone to get out of concealment if enemy pod moves.

I can´t believe people only use overwatch overwatch.. almost seems like one of those necromunda games. where you are against somebody cheesy. who just finds hardcover.
And then stays OVERWATCH end turn. overwatch endturn.

Building the AWC as the very first room makes sense anyway, since it cuts down the recovery times so dramatically.

The way AWC works is that it hands out a one time random skill on promotion. The thing is that if you are unlucky, AWC may decide that you should've gotten the free skill on a previous rank you had already earned, in which case you wont be getting the skill at all since you have already went passed that rank.

I suggest you installed the "True retroactive AWC" mod which makes it so that you are able to gain the skill even if you have already earned that particular rank on you soldier.
