How hard is it to hit a giant floating ball ffs
Do gatekeepers have some constant bonus to cover or reduced hit chance, because they never seem to hit these annoying things

reminds me of that futurama episode. 'we're gonna need more ballbags!'

and yes they have a defence of 10% i believe. so they are 10% harder to hit than your average giant ball.
Mistfox Feb 26, 2016 @ 3:44am
Yes. They have an inbuilt bonus to defence.

Eugh, as if they dont miss enough already

"Flying" enemies like the Gatekeepr or the Archon have a defense bonus because they're floating around instead of standing still on the floor, same goes for "agile" enemies that can dodge attacks very frequently like the Viper or the Codex.

Lol I know how you feel, the things are the size of a truck.

Imagine it as a ricochet off the armor if it helps

Good old xcom logic. Where non-rifleman enemies in the open are harder to hit.

What makes it worse is they seem to be in every mission now, I let out a sigh of agony whenever I see them.

you want to mind control them. that is what you want. *waves watch infront of your eyes so you are mind controlled*

I cannot do that because...they also have 5 armor, ffs!!! Getting 5 points of damage less, is what a ricochet off the armor is about.

Haven't gotten any psi soldiers yet. I don't think I've finished building the psi lab or whatever, but that sounds like it'd be fun. I can use the ball of misery against them

This is very true, they're good targets for mind control because the zombies will be yours too and you can use them so much better than the AI, get a Gatekeeper and start your personal army.

first person to hit them should be a grenadier with salvo, drop an acid grenade on his ass, then his free action would be to use shredder, holo targetting and rupture

the gatekeeper now has no armour and all friendlies have a bonus to aim that mitigates the defence and takes + 3 dmg from all sources, you can easily burn it down now

they are a pain in the ass simply due to the amount of health they have, when these arrive on the battlefield stood next to a couple of andromedon and archon's you know you're in for a fun fight, it's a lot of HP's you have to chew through

The way I've always seen to hit thing likes in games such as XCOM 2 is that they incorporate pretty much everything. For example you could attribute the miss to stress, environmental factors, the giant floating ball moving, your trooper being fired at or seeing other troopers being fired at (it's turn based but it's suppose to represent a real time engagement), a glancing blow, or a temporary stroke who knows.

or just use the eternally overpowered mimic beacon to distract it for a turn while you chip away at its health with everybody on your team.

What Zombies ? Gatekeeper cant spawn Zombies. He can Shoot or Open up Armor for his AOE attack
