Someone could make a W40K Epic game that was turn based and with big armies. DOW2 did "small" W40k and while fun, wasn´t really W40k
Don't get me wrong, I love the 40k universe but, the same backwards thinking that has Games Workshop struggling to stay relevant in the tapletop space infests any game with their name on it. I'd prefer to see Firaxis continue to work on their own IP instead of making a deal with the devil.
Al those who did a good job or fairly good job with the license always seem to run into trouble.
I would say Fireaxis don´t do it :P
Even all the hits company seem to go downunder sooner or later.
Maybe Activision was right when they had the rogue trader license and never brought out a game.
The license simply is cursed :P Reliq went bust. SSI did a fabulous Warhammer Chaos Gate.
You can keep naming the good products that people accepted and mostly of those company went bust or had to close shop or be taken over.
Even the Warhammer MMO EA shut down cause of lack of people :P when EA shutsdown something you bet it wasn´t profitable enough for the license.
I wouldn´t want them to even touch it, Fireaxis is great company. We shall see how CA does with total warhammer :P but the ods of them having a megahit versus being taken over or bankrubt . let say the ods are not in CA favor.
This. Games Workshop has no idea how to get people to actually give a crap about video games.
No kid. You do!
Pity you are too lame to even think Dawn of War was fun.
...Excuse me? Not once did I say that Dawn of War wasn't fun. I said that GAMES WORKSHOP has no idea how to make people give a crap about video games. RELIC was damn good with the first Dawn of War and its expansions. We're talking about DLC-fests like Space Marine, which was a great game if you ignored the countless DLC that was put out for multiplayer, and Total War: Warhammer, which is confirmed to not have mod support, all because GW doesn't understand that community mods don't take anything away from their brand. Nevermind that GW themselves have basically kicked Warhammer Fantasy to the curb with the garbage they call Age of Sigmar.
Not sure if anyone remember the original Space Hulk game that was for the floppy disk but that was a great turn based game, somehow the new space hulk sucked sadly. One day someone will make a great warhammer game....some day.
Ascension is pretty good, and the bugs are finally getting fixed by a couple of the old devs.(The company that made the game folded before they could finish patching the stuff that the last expansion broke, but there was a push for one last patch led by a couple of the old team that wanted to make sure the game was fixed. It's in beta right now, and seems to be what people wanted.)
Dawn of War was fantastic, as far as Games Workshop games go. I put over 500 hours into the Dawn of War 2 multiplayer and that was when my free time was extremely limited. That has literally nothing to do with my point.
Don't act like it was the 40k universe alone that made that game worth playing. It was the mechanics that carried it and it would have been just as enjoyable if it was an original IP.
