XCOM 2

Gameplay is too slow
After about having 50 runs or so in Legendary + Ironman mode, I don't know if I can bring myself to play again. I hate having to wait 5 seconds for every action I do just to watch a guy run and shoot. I'm at the furthest I ever got, but I'm at the Avenger Raid Defense mission where I failed 3 times now and don't feel like restarting the mission or campaign. After trying to bring myself to play again, I just feel too bored watching the animations, it's just too cinematic for me. I already have the mod Stop Wasting My Time. Is there another way to speed up gameplay?

Turn off the action cam as well?

Yeah, I had it off to the very beginning due to the bugs and as well hearing it causes bugs.

There's a mod called something like 'Stop Wasting my Time' that gets rid of all that.

I already have that mod.

Then you shouldn't have to wait for them to move. I don't think it gets rid of the shooting animations, but you can move a soldier and then tab to the next one while they're moving to move your next soldier.

There's certain INI tweaks that can speed up animations in the game, but to be honest I think what we have here is an issue with the genre in general rather than specifically XCOM2.

I think you should still be able to do actions while shooting or at least skip the shooting parts.

I shall repeat myself.

The issue with "skipping" the action is then you're just playing a glorified board game. Which is fine, but there's also the fact that the game is running mechanics based upon the character's movement, as well as having to deal with Overwatch reaction fire and numerous other locational based effects, such as fire, poison clouds and acid pools. "Skipping" the animation in this instance might lead to the player missing critical information, such as triggering what I just explained, or wondering why they're no longer concealed.

There's also the small fact they could miss the shot information by concentrating on other things, but both of these could be solved with a log I guess.

The problem then becomes a design one. If there's no reason to "bother" the player with running and firing animations, what's the point in having the level design at all?

Which is why I said you might have an issue with the genre as a whole, rather than the XCOM games. There's plenty of real time squad based stratagy titles, Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising's campaign would be two I could recommend personally, but there's Company of Heroes and plenty of others. The AfterX series is also in real time.
