For Those Who Are Having Issues With Corrupt Save File Fixes
This link will send you to a folder sharing website,Jumpshare (my account page), where I have gone through hell and high water to fix this through so much stupid things/ways. (<attempt to control swearing). The problem with the Corrupt Save File Issue, was that somewhere when your game is supposed to populate the correct files into your document folder and properly make it to the point where you can save and load fluidly, something with in that pathing it failed.
so without further ado here is the link, Make sure you Copy and Paste this into your 'My Games'' Folder and it should fix the issue all together.

EDIT: As Brought to my attention by Oni'Kanji, after multiple attempts trying to fix this myself through forums and other guides to help me, nothing was working. I had tried running as admin, creating the folders/strings of folders manually, unchecking the read only on the documents, and all sub-folders/files and still nothing. I had to create a Whole new Admin User for my computer, start the game there and it fixed the pathing error that was causing the corruption by god knows what method. In short, it fixed my issues with it and i got the folder on my main user account and found the best file sharing method that was easy for all to use and all you need to do is download the '.zip folder'.

EDIT2: so, unfortunately after spam postign this to every other forum for corrupt saves, i tried to save and load and it failed and corrupted but not on my other user, so far the only fix i know of was creating a whole new User/Admin and the game corrected the pathing. if you give me time i can give you a step by step process on how to do this but for now i have no current solution however the link may work for some

Hope this saves people so much frustration.

Strange, Have played around 1000 hours of XCOM-EW and XCOM 2 and have never ever had any issue with corrupted saves. Sounds like something else like file permissions is going on with your systems. good luck...

I had the same issue. What I found that apparently OneDrive remapped the location of my Documents folder and XCom (along with several other games) just could not deal with that.

I now disabled OneDrive, reset the location of my documents folder to C:/Users/USERNAME/Documents and everything works just fine again....

Oh, Microsoft, don't you ever change... succesfully messing up all kinds of things which take us hours (or in this case days) to figure out for decades now....:steamfacepalm:
