Like any well made product of alien design. Advertising is everything. The actual ingredients can be 90% chemicals and 10% taste. We will never really know. Only that whatever the percentage of human by product. Its to much by human standards. Not alien.

Any human in the "meat" would be too much by alien standards. They want viable specimens and DNA, not prion infected invalids.
It could be vat grown, insects or Muton testicles or something even more repulsive. The chances of it being humans are near nil, unless the Elders are even more senile than I thought.

Honestly, the only alien which actually seems appealing to me is the Chryssalid. I'd like to eat boiled, gutted Chryssalid flesh merely to avenge my fallen and give them a taste of their own medicine.

I triggered a pod of a Viper and her two Sectoid stress relief buddies and I quickly killed the Sectoids, had to end my turn. Next turn starts and Central says that this is one of the processing factories that Advent uses to supply the city centers with food. They see burgers come out but no cows going in. "I wonder where all their beef comes from."

Also before that Central said on the Avenger that they're always hearing about these Advent burgers but nobody really knows whats in the food. Central says something like where would they get the cows from or something odd like that.

Advent Burgers appear to be XCOM's Soylent Green.
