However, there is a MOD that will force the computer to pick your character pool characters to always show up - until your chracter pool runs out and then the randoms appear.
Character Pool Only
by sG|Vorgx
Simple mod to start the game with only Characters from your Character Pool.
VIP / Soldiers added throughout the game will also come from the Character Pool.
NOTE: You need to make quite a few Character for this to work properly.

As for how they show up. Most of your soldiers will almost always show up as rookies - even if you give them a class. However, if a class comes up and that soldier has not been used then the character will appear as that class. If you create a dark VIP - then your character will be a dark VIP at the first opportunity. Likewise, for VIP as well. It is best to have a LARGE pool... i have a guild and I named allot of soldiers after my guilds and computer friends... so i can YELL at them when THEY miss and die and mess up. I never create me as a character - because I may die or miss or mess up... and trust me... i dont miss :)
