Faceoff and Dark VIPs...
Unpleasant surprise: Apparently, using the Sharpshooter's "Faceoff" ability while in the presence of a Dark VIP results in treating the Dark VIP as a valid target.

Is there any way to *only* fire Faceoff shots at real enemies?

Skill shot all enemy in sight so you can't select.
You can knockout that VIP then shot.

If I were in a position to immediately KO the VIP, I wouldn't need to be using Faceoff in the first place. =P

well next time move your vip out of harms way problem solve or better yet don't use it when you are not trying to target the vip when in range to be targeted by that skill hope that helps!

It's an ADVENT VIP. I can't just order him to move.

The whole point of the skill is to shoot multiple enemies in one turn. The whole point of the question is "The Dark VIP should not be considered an enemy; can I accomplish that?"

So "Don't use Faceoff" isn't really a helpful answer to the question of "How can I use Faceoff without shooting the Dark VIP?"

I thought Dark VIPs weren't considered as targets for Faceoff, at least in my playthrough. Also, I think a Dark VIP can eat a single Mag Pistol shot? Not sure.

Yes, in my game i shot all enemy with VIP then evac.
The objective is abduct or kill. It complete mission anyway.
Not always kill but some situation you can't keep VIP alive.

Not if that Mag Pistol is loaded with Viper Rounds...

And unfortunately, the Dark VIP was definitely considered a target, as evidenced by the fact that he got shot in the face. =(

The objective is abduct if possible, kill if not. Abducting gets you supplies + intel. Killing gets you supplies only. I ain't giving up that intel.

Same should be with mind controlled xcom. Which is sad.

I assume your are pure gunslinger.
Lighting hand > pistol 2 shot. then end you turn, let other soldier do their job.

Lightning Hands > Quick Draw Pistol Shot > Faceoff.

You're not understanding the point of this thread. The point is not "I want to kill some fools." The point is "I want to use Faceoff to kill some fills without killing a very specific fool who is not an actual target, but who is considered to be such."

I already said at first post "Skill shot all enemy in sight"
VIP count as enemy cause you can "kill".
It is not a escort mission.

I understand what the skill does.

What the skill does is literally the exact problem I'm raising, so I understand what the skill does.

I don't think explaining it again, will make them understand. #steamdiscussionfail.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Also a Violitile Flash Bang will hurt the Dark VIP
:D

Honestly, never bring Sharpshooters to VIP missions. You want to move fast and most of the time Snipers are hanging out too far in the back due to their sniper requiring both actions to use. Maybe a Gunslinger but they're not that great for smash and grab missions.
