Is laboratory worthless?
Scientists dont need the lab to research, and it only adds 13% to the speed. Why build it?

no you dont you need In a center the second row it gives a workshop in place of 2 engineers of 4 drones which work also as engineers

you also get +11% for each scientist you assign to it (being a max of 2) total being +35%
thus granting a larger science bonus than just having lots of scientists.

I kind of agree. By the time I built one in my last campaign, it turned out I only had a few research project left to go anyway. For the time and cost, it probably isn't worth it.

I think they should have made a lab a pre-requisite to some more of the research paths.

I wouldn't say they're worthless, there just are many more important things to build when you really want one and by the time that you can actually get around to making space for one, it feels a bit irrelevant. Limited space and loads of essential rooms just make finding a good time to build one difficult.

I'm not sure if I prefer the old way of spamming loads of labs and workshops or the new restricted and really fairly linear approach to building the base.

Problem for me was always... at the time you could really need it about everything else is more important. At the time you have time to build it its almost useless because 90% of all avaiable research was already done meanwhile. If they had added a need for the lab (like top research can only be done if you have one), then it would be a different story. But as i stands now, at least for me, its the least important facility of all.

It is really usefull early on, the 13% doesn´t seem much but it really helps.
I never gotten mag weapons and plate armour that fast.

Anyway the right or left cornor of the avenger is never really used of the avenger other the GTS
So I tossed my lab in there :P anyway can´t wait till people mod stuff for labs and other things.

Based all armour mod customisation, even the civilians can use weapons, so do those scientist and engineers ! those are definetly sorted into arms legs and torso parts.

Unlike the civilians who are just one piece. of torso !

Never build one. Second run on ironman and for the life of me i cant find use for the laboratory. A slot, supplie and energy down the drain. Most reserch takes only few days. Most autopsies can be done instantly once you do relevent research.

Lab is just not worth it. If it had some secondary use like faster healing or .... random bonus intel or something - then maybe. But as it stands right now - its pointless.

Well I had to build something in that cornor. cause my workshop was going in the middle underneath the power supply.

So I tried a lab, and I was amazed cause late game the lab is almost useless :P

Yeah sci lab and workshop is not worth it. I didnt build any as I remember them being worthless in xcom 1

if you build the laboratory directly the first month it's worth it, mid game nah pass

Workshop is the best ever, two engineer turns it into 4 engineer .

That is how you can keep your base going early on.
Cause of the workshop. you never build one :P try it in this XCOM 2
sadly the workshop only affects adjacent tiles (so not diagonal) that is why positioning the 1 workshop you can build is so important.

But you dont have the time for that early in the game. It is only late you have time to do whatever, but why build it then?
