♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stun lancers!
14 squares away and if you get someone unconcious you lose 2 usable fighters for the map. I did everything in my power to kill him but he survived with 1 hp and made a full healthy soldier with 7 hp and 5 missions under their belt unconcious and a single hit.

Its preety much an instant fail in a timed mission.

I fear stun lancers more then snakewomen. At least they only kill 1 person in your team if you get unlucky.

They miss more than they hit. I smile when I see them appear as the alternatives to a stunlancer are far, far worse.

I always send in my rangers in first and since they have bladestorm the lancers run to their death 75% of the time. The rest of the time my sniper kills them.

They definately dont miss more then they hit, its just that they give you a random status effect. Problem is when you get uncouncious you just lost 30-40% of you fighting force. And with no chance to recover unlike most others.

Im not saying its the worse but its still terrible particularly so because it burdens the rest of your squad. I just wish that normal medkits works to revive unconcious instead of that one gremlin talent.

one of soldiers took 14 damage from a stun dude
luckily she had 3 points of armor and 'only' suffered 11 health damage

was on Commander difficulty. she was fine after a few weeks in the infirmary.

Soldiers who are stunned can be revived and gotten back on their feet, also the stun effect will wear off after a few turns and the soldier will wake up. And the HP can just be healed.

I'm sorry, but by what I'm seeing is that stunlancers can run far but oftenly don't connect. More often than not, they run across the map, flail at your soldier and are left standing in the open where they get critted into oblivion on my turn.
Do they always miss? Not at all. But they miss often enough to not see them as the boogeyman this forum wants people to believe.

you can use gremlins to remove stuns and stuff.

The problem is that they are not working as they are supposed to, as far as I am aware. The tooltip for their lances (in multiplayer) implies that they are only supposed to knock people unconscious if they hit wounded enemies. First three times I had them connect a hit it was an unconscious hit each time. On unwounded soldiers. That basically turned them into priority one in Advent packs. Sure, they rarely hit but when they have they have almost always done just absolutely cruel things. That you NEED Revival Protocol to undo unconscious is particularly rude.

And, yes, they can render previously unwounded troops unconscious with their first blow in Multiplayer as well: it is not just a change for MP. Second game using lancers had one knock a viper out in one go (did all of 1 damage to their actual HP, too).

I dont care about stuns, they are easy to deal with. Its the unconcious effect thats bad because you have to carry your soldier to the evac or have them die leading to having 2 soldier who cant fight because evac missions are slow enough to constantly put a soldier down to fire.

The gremlin can help only if you take the correct protocol at tier 4. Your in trouble if you get unlucky and your trained specilist is healing back at base.

It depends when you fight them during the campaign, at the very beginning it can happen more often they stun, for me they stun permanently if their attack do a percentage of damages. The other stun is much more rare.

But also the first stun will happen many time during first maps and then not anymore during a long time until they get upgraded and it come back.

Specialist has a skill allowing restore a permanently stunned soldier, but it's a one use skill. I bet most players don't pick it to be able try hack enemies (the opposite skill).

Huu I wouldn't advise a single soldier covering a skill you consider important. That said I'm not sure this skill is that important.

In that case it depends a lot on how you design your team, specialist can cover 2 roles, medic and hacker, and support both is possible but doesn't fill fully each role.

So a coherent option is 2 Specialists in a team, and then you need at least 4 Specialists in your roster, 6 to be safer.

Yep ^^ I took hacking tough, but I took the gremlin squad heal ( and recover) skill at colonnel ^^ It rocks. Well later on, I either saw the lance barely, or they never stunned me. Lol ^^ later on, they aren't much of a deal, imo ^^ Sometimes, I think the barrier soldiers are way more annoying ^^ Or group frags XD

Basically what I'm saying too. I agree that they appear OP in the early game, but they're still very easy to deal with.

Mmm perhaps but at a point of the game they started do like 12 damages and then again generate some full stun, and alas kills too.

For me stun is a great mechanism, after all it's better than death.

Stun lancers are one of the games cheats, not to cleverly disguised as a part of the game. There are many such cheats to be found.
