Any reason to use the spider suit over the E.X.O one?
While the spider suit gives dodge, +1 moviment and the hook, the E.X.O just seems more useful, with +1 armor and +1 health, plus the heavy weapon that comes with it (rocket launchers on everyone).

Hell, i think every class would be better and more useful with the E.X.O suit. Any reason to use the spider suit variation?

Depends on your playstyle. Only found the spidersuit useful on the rangers in some instances.
Then again I finished the game with only one exo suit built for my grenadier.

i love the spider suite and the wraith suite on my rangers and my snipers. The hook is pretty sweet in getting into better sitiuations with them

What SomeGuy said. IT works over a distance of about 12 tiles sometimes, too. So you can position your dude to use the grapple one turn and just use it the next, getting a free sniper shot if you are lucky. It is also a "HAHAHA NO!" escape tool if you just grapple away to safety and maybe hunker down or overwatch or run like a *lol*

Edit : That said, Exo Suits are pretty badass, but ONLY give them to your Grenadiers!
They have a skill you can get that does not end their turn if they use their nades or heavy weapons on their first action - an EXO suit is essentially more armor and hp AND a free "heavy weapon" you can use. It makes little sense on others.

I put one on my best snipers so I can put them up in a nest early on and let them long watch for my other soldiers as they advance.

Also, this.

First run, I had a Chinese sniper. He had the +10 AIM rounds, I slapped a great scope on him, it was extremely rare to see him have sub-100 hit chance and not hit anything across the map.

Yeah, i can see it being useful on the snipers, but i was never on a situation with them thinking "damn, wish i had a hook to put my sniper on a better position!". IDK, the E.X.O seems so...godlike. I mean, it basically gives them a better grenade as the default weapon of the suit, plus armor and health.

But since my snipers are way on the back, i can see the hook helping them more than a rocket launcher they'll probably never use on the mission. As for the other classes...rocket launchers for everyone! (maybe)

Wrong way of thinking.
Snipers can only use their Sniper on the first action of a turn.
The Grapple is a *free* action.
You can grapple UP and away.
Up like where the "Death From Above" skill gets them another action. Which may be a pistol, overwatch, hunker down, retreat, or a tactical nade (Mimic nade even, to save someone?)
Not to mention if one ledge is all you need that same turn to Serial 3-5 enemies, you'll learn to appreciate it =3.

EXO suits ain't bad, but they are the worse one of the two.

With a lot of missions requiring you to EVAC everyone now too, it can be helpful to quickly get a loner soldier to the EVAC point that had been hanging away from the rest of the team (snipers)

But grapple + death from above + long watch + squad sight = dead aliens

I see. So what, is the spider suit better for every class? With it i can put my snipers on the "frontline" and kill everyone with death from above, but what about my grenadiers, rangers and specialists? Since most of them are in the frontlines anyway, the rocket can easily damage multiple enemies/destroy their cover.

Keep in mind, the grapple has something like a 4 turn cooldown. So there's that to consider.

EDIT: Nevermind was thinking of the W.A.R. Suit.

Sniper = far, far, far, far, far back, highest-most firing position with long watch and death from above. (exception being a sniper specced into the pistol)

Everyone else = "frontline"

spider suit is great for sharpshooters that want to get a height advantage. ANd rocket launcher is not useful when you want to use your sniper rifle every turn.

You pretty much want to mix a bunch of the different armor. EXO goes great with grenadiers that have Salvo, Spider is lovely for everyone that needs mobility (sniper, scout), but you can't dismiss Warden either; it has 2 item slots, and there's a lot of very, very powerful utility items you want to bring in.
