XCOM 2

Can this game be ran on a GeForce 9800s?
Hello! I'm having a tad of a predicament; I really do want to purchase this game however I'm not sure my pc can run it, and there are no youtube videos showcasing the performance with the GeForce 9800s. Would anybody here know if I could play it? Minimum graphics do not bother me in the slightest, and I can play around 10-30 fps if need be. For the record, I did try using system requirements lab and it said I didn't meet the minimum requirements but that hasn't stopped me in the past from running games just fine. Any help is appreciated! Here's more detailed specs:
(disregard the vista OS, I'll be upgrading to windows 7 if I can run this game on these specs)

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz
Video Card 1 NVIDIA GeForce 9800 S
Video Card 2 NVIDIA GeForce 9800 S
Video Card 3 NVIDIA nForce 760i SLI
Memory 4.0 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 64-bit

I would say no, I had to upgrade from something similar to that specs for XCOM 2 and it still has performance issues.

Definitelly not.
Also, get rid of Vista >.>

DX11 GPU is required, as is a minimum of Windows 7. So, no.

Though that spec you list also includes a 700-series.

If you could be more specific in why it cannot run, that would be much more helpful! I also mentioned in my post to disregard the Vista OS, as I will be upgrading only if this computer can run the game with it's specs aside from the OS.

My computer has DX11, so that being the case, if I upgrade to windows 7 will I be at least somewhat certain it can run on these specs on the very bare minimum? Also, thanks for the help!

Well ... more specific? You know why, but you want us to say? ok, here it goes: That graphic card is too slow to run a next-gen game properly, SLI won't to much good (specially considering the game kind of doesn't support it).

I have a GT640, which is 60% better than the 9800, and I can play the game on all low settings with marginal 29~30 FPS, and my CPU is better than yours.

Also the game uses PhysX, which the 9800 I don't think supports, so it will run on the CPU, further making it unplayable.

The 9800 is 8 years old, it is way past an upgrade.

Bottomline, you wont be playing on low setting at 10 FPS, you will be playing at crash fest because the interrupts can't handle it.

Doesn't matter the DX that is on your PC. It matters what your GPU is capable of. For one thing there is no such thing as a geforce 9800 S. There is a 9800 GT which is a DX 10 GPU and does not support DX10.1 or DX 11. Any video card made before 2008 when DX 10.1 was released will not support DX 10.1 or DX 11.Your not going to be able to run it with only 4 GB of memory though. The game requires at least 8 GB. And that 760i is an entry level GPU that is way below minimum. You might get 2 FPS even if it is DX11.

Thank you! The comparison is actually very helpful, I didn't actually know why. If I can't even reach a minimum of 10 FPS, then I'll pass until I get my new computer soon. Thanks again!

Thanks, I wasn't aware that my GPU wasn't capable of running DX11. As for whether the 9800s exists, it was designed specifically for the HP Firebird; here it is on Nvidia's webpage: http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_9800s_us.html
In regards to the 760i and memory requirments, if it is as large a gap as you say then it confirms that it's impossible to run this game on this computer. I'll just wait for my new computer to be delivered then.
Thanks for everyone's help!

Ah, I missed the 'nforce' there. nVidia do like to make things confusing, don't they.

You can run the game with 4GB RAM, you'll just have to close everything else.

But there's no way the game will run on the system with that GPU, I'm afraid.
