What does the will stat do?
I know it helps prevent panic and mind spin but does it help the psi-op with anything? Like more damage or better percentages for insanity/mind control?

All of the above. Better resistance to panic and psionics. Better use of your own psionic abilities (if applicable).

Also improves the soldier's ability to hold their bladder until the mission is over.

Unless there's a bug this how will should work yes.
I can confirm it.
You can upgrade your Psi weapon to increase damage. Will stat will not affect your dmg output. I doubt they would make it so that you can use will AND weapon upgrades to upgrade you dmg output. That sounds OP

Will pertains to:

- Psi disability resistance (not damage)
- Mind control and the likes (direct flat reduction)
- Panicking resistance when things go wrong to other teammates.

Psi directly contributes to a psi-op's skill success rate (not damage)

It's a separate stat from Will and isn't accounted for on defense.

An easier way to explain this would be
PSI = Offense stat.
Will = Defense stat.

TL:DR: WIll doesn't help a psi-op hit better or harder.

Check out the skills of your Psi operatives, they explain how they work.

Basically, whenever you use a psyonic skill, the game compares your PSI skill to the targets Will, and determines the chance of success afterwards.

It would only be logical to assume, that any alien with psyonic abilities also has a PSI skill (hidden), which it uses whenever it makes an attack against your troops.

They do. It's fixed for each individual psi ability user but the values are marginal compared to a fully trained psi-op with endgame stuff.

I think avatars are the only ones that pass 100 and even then they hardly succeed mind control on high will characters.
