Ufo hunt is risky, but it can be evaded quite easily. But it requires you to be smart about where the avenger is. I would stop the construction.

UFO doesnt seem to go away though, it just keeps looking for you...

Also there is a fair chance that you will most certainly lose people on UFO defense.

Im fairly late in the game already did the UFO defense and Im not sure but I think its really "unlikely" to get it again.

Do you have Matrix Defense Structure up in your ship?
If yes then sure eat the alien ship one.

My last game the UFO found me but I successfully evaded it and it went away for good without a fight. So even if it does catch you sometimes it is a complete non factor. The game before that I just killed it, didn't seem to be a big deal.

worth noting. at times the game will CHEAT and make it impossible to evade the ufo. it will simply teleport the ufo into your vicinity so it can catch you. this is ever so slightly aggravating.

You can dodge that UFO pretty easily, either by doing he dodge event or by manually leaving the area it is in. But also there is a scripted UFO incident anyway later down the line.

Don't worry about it, even if it shoots you down, it is an extremely easy mission to complete. I got 67 kills, and no deaths.

It might even be beneficial to get the mission, (free xp and loot,) atleast, that is the way i look at it.

I only had the Avenger defense after the UFO caught me once and in my current playthrough. I found it was the easiest mission in the whole campaign (I didn't even have the defense matrix build). Firstly, you not only have your full squad available but also get reinforcements from your ship, so you can end up with like 9 soldiers. Also at least for me, the target I needed to destroy was very close. I only killed a few enemies, the target and that was it. Judging by how the mission went,

I probably could have done it within just 2 turns. Get a scout in line of sight of the target you need to destroy in 1-2 turns, have 2-3 snipers shoot it with their squad sight, mission done. I did end up killing like 20 enemies though, because I wanted to play it safe and wasn't sure whats comming.

Maybe I got lucky but I would always role for delaying the new site construction again, because the UFO doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

What difficulty are you playing on morph, because on Legend the defense mission is a freaking nightmare and certainly is the most difficult mission even considering how some of the storyline goes at one notable point.

I play on Commander/Ironman. But as I said, I only had the mission once and maybe I got lucky, but it was absolutely easy for me. And If I would have known the mission beforehand, I probably could have ended it in like 2 turns with scout+snipers. We are talking about the mission where the Avenger gets shot down by an UFO and you need to destroy that gravity thing which holds the Avenger down right?
