Tips on battling The Faceless
I just now noticed something. Use of the Specialist battle scanning(I also assume the battle scan orb you can craft) reveals the Faceless prematurely if your near enough to scan them.

Also, on terror missions. I find it easier to kill enemies to reveal the faceless afterwards than running towards every civ I see and taking a chance it is or is not a faceless.

tip: SHOOT THEM.

Treat every civilian as a faceless. There are two faceless in the first Retaliation mission. One will always appear near the end and as a civilian. Remember, keep your soldiers alive FIRST, kill the aliens second, and if u kill all the aliens the civilians who are alive will be saved. Do not be a hero and save a civilian... heroes die.

(of course, i am never invited to birthday parties at the local resistance camp.)

Major tip... don't bother with securing civilians... just go for the alien pods instead.
Get their attention off civs and just clear em out.
Avoid civilians, just for the sake of not popping that faceless.

In other words, treat all civilians as faceless and don't approach them.
When aliens are in sight, they barely go for civs, unless they are out of sight of your troops.

Tip: If you attempt to throw a grenade that deals damage on a civilian it will give you a warning that you will damage an ally. If they are a faceless you will not get this warning.

Pro Tip,

Civilians save Resistance Fighter lives.
Its true, in fact the game priotizes killing Civies over your recruits....

What you do with this evil knowledge is up to you Commander.

Aliens get a Plus 10 to hit a Civilian so if your not holding a sign that says shoot me first just uh ermm position yourself so that the civilain is just a tad closer.

Heros of the Resistance each and every one of those Civies.

Battle scanners reveal them

I've found that their movement radius isn't as big as you think. Since they can easily kill a full health rookie in one hit, I normally spend a move where I dash my entire squad back, then use my entire squad to hit them on one turn.

They objective saveing six civilians, but that isn't something you have to do by tagging and evacuateing them. If you get at least six you keep the region as a resistance contact.

If you don't get unlucky you can save six just by fighting agressively and actvateing the pods. If there are any unactvated alien pods they pretty much kill a civlian a turn if they can reach them.

I never focus on grabbing civs. Like in most missions, your odds of success increase if you simply focus on killing pods.

If you do decide to grab civs, only do 1 at a time and have a Ranger and Heavy on deck to deal with it immediately. Otherwise, just kill the pods and the Faceless will reveal themselves as the aliens run out of units.
