How to deal with mutons?
Anyone have any tricks or tips they have for dealing with them? They instantly kill one soldier of mine each round, and seem to have a very high hit chance.

How do you guys deal with them?

Pretty much anything will do the trick. Flashbangs are your best friends, and try to kill them on the first turn of combat or move out of sight completely so they can't shoot. Also with high aim aliens, play it like Impossible mode on Enemy Unknown, and only shoot from high cover, otherwise hunker down or do something that will save the life of a troop.

If u are concealed, set an ambush, normally i start with a grenade from nade launcher cause this will deal damage and then shred mostly one armor away so the dmg reduction from them goes down (the little caros displayed on the health bar, flat dmg reduce). the rest of the squad is behind heavy cover and far enough away that this alienshithead cant melee attack them and put into overwatch, so far i recognized that most of the squad will attack the heaviest target in the enemy squad.

and if ur are not concealed, try to retreat and find again heavy cover and overwatch and let him come, mostly i focus the muton and the rest after its dead. think of a second nade so the armor is totally gone. nade his cover first and than shoot him (if possible).

they are though, dont engage in melee until u can one attack kill them with a ranger i would say. i am playing on legend and i have really high respect for them and mostly they are my prioritized target (at least from the enemys i encountered so far). and a final note, hope to not encounter in a firefight with them more enemys... this will be really fast really bad for u.

The first thing I do when I know there's a Muton is spread my soldiers out a bit. They love to toss those plasma grenades when they see you bunched up. They're really good with cover so I usually blast it away with a grenade and flank when possible. I've noticed that going for the Slash with your Ranger can often backfire with disasterous results so I'd be careful going that route. They have a bit of armor so anything that can negate or shred the armor is a good idea (grenades, acid grenade, Grenadier's Shredder skill, etc.). Lastly, if you have a Mimic Beacon... toss it into it's flank and watch as they give you a free shot.

If you don't have shard gun or mag sniper by the time you hit mutons, you're gonna have a bad time. No exceptions.

Anyways:
Spread your units up. Having multiple soldiers within 3 tiles from one another will make the muton throw his nade, and it's gonna hurt.
Explosions are your friend. Not only will it land reliable damage on the muton, but it'll also break his cover, and shred a point of armor. Once the muton is out of cover, you can take it out with a mag pistol gunslinger (lightning hands + quickdraw shots should be enough, usually), crit shot from a sniper, deadeye shot, or a shard gun crit. If it's still standing, nade it again or use combat protocol.
Once you get more skills, mutons should become very easy to take out. Just watch out for that grenade, and be mindful of the fact that it can bayonet you for a chance to stun.
flashbangs - stops them from using grenades / bayonet charge. It also drops their aim.
proceed to grenade their cover and kill them with conventional weapons. Try to avoid using swords on them. Use a mimic beacon if you can't mop up in time to prevent them from killing your guys on their turn.

At least one grenade to remove their cover and shred a unit of armor.

Generally speaking play defensively, and don't leave a soldier vulnerable. If you are agressive and don't succeed they can make you pay higher price than most. Play to negate their strengths as much as possible.

Take out any mutons that can be reliably killed but then make them run at you by pulling back and putting soldiers in over watch to catch them charging.

This is where I am generally with countering them at second to last difficulty, seems pretty consistent now, hope it helps!

If a soldier is stunned the Grenadier has a skill to cure it, I had the pleasant suprise to quote it. But I don't remember the other skill choice, could not worth it.

Alternate for specialist was haywire protocol.

Fuse. Because why use my grenades, when I can use theirs?
