Psi Operatives, how do you level them?
I noticed on their load out they have what looks like the different level tiers but I have no idea of how to unlock any of them. Killing things doesn't work and the only way to get abilities and upgrade them is from the Psi Training, am I missing something or is that the only way?

I had my Psi Operativr go through training, and it looked like she got random Abilities offered for training, 3 at a time.

On the second training, she got Void, and I think that's a top-tier Ability.

So just keep training and you might fill up all the Abilities on the tree, left and right.

I don't know how the Psi Operatives rank up though.

Haven't used them yet in XCOM2, but if it's anything like the previous game then your operatives only gain "PSI EXP" when they use their psi powers in missions, so if you're not using them then they won't improve!

Wrong, XCOM 2 does not work the same way as XCOM 1.

They have to train in the psi lab (they can still go on missions while training but training will be paused if they are injured) each time they learn a new skill they gain a rank like other classes do... the difference is in the end psi ops can learn every single one of their skills instead of just one path.

Your psi-operative needs to continue training at the psi lab. Everytime she learns an ability she gains a new rank which also improves her stats. You get a choice out of 3 abilities, the first 3 are randomized and every new ability afterwards is also random.

Your operative can learn all abilities, it's best you keep an engineer staffed because it would take a considerable time if you don't.

This is no longer true, training is all that is required.

Psi ops do NOT earn experience on the battlefield. You have to train them in the psi labs. They will eventually learn ALL abilities (given enough time).
The good thing about them is that they continue their training where they left off if you send them on a mission.
But try to keep them safe, injuries will interupt their training.
