Psi operatives not getting promotions

So, i took a fresh psi op on a mission, killed a bunch of aliens but didn't get a promotion. And that was not the only time. Do I have to do something to get him promoted or the only thing I can do is to train them in psi facility.

Psi get promotion from training, not combat.

keep training him/her in the psi facility they dont level up like the others do.

Psi Operatives do not get experience from combat, they can only level up through training in the Psi Lab.

What everyone else says. they get training in the psi ops lab instead of kills/missions. They can also learn every skill if they have enough time.

Try to get Insanity, the thing that gives insanity damage, and Void. Watch as your Vortex makes 2 pods of berserkers into mush. Add in a land mine and its really GG.
