Bladestorm or Implacable?
Which is better?
Bladestorm sounds great against Stun Lancers etc, but that free move sounds like it might be a lifesaver.. kill an enemy with the sword, run back to cover.
So how exactly do they trigger and which one is better?

They're both good, but overall I've gotten more mileage out of Bladestorm.

If you're a Blademaster (one of the first skills), I think Bladestorm is definitely the way to go. If not, I don't know.

I've gotten Implacable on a sniper, and it's pretty awesome there. I can take free pistol shots, snipe someone and then move in the same turn.

Bladestorm: Seems to activate when enemies run past you (1 square). Free slash attack.
Implacable: You are free to make one move after killing an enemy (just a move, no overwatch or using items).

Personally found bladestorm a lot better. The idea of killing someone and then running to freedom does sound enticing, and it was the first one I picked on my first ranger... but it really wasn't that useful. It also FORCES you to move even if you have your character in a well-defended position (I imagine this will be addressed in the future though as its silly).

'Untouchable' makes implacable largely pointless later on as well. ... Also slightly spoiled but there is a Chryssalid heavy mission later on, and my bladestorm Ranger killed 5 Chryssalids in one turn. I imagine that part of the game is normally incredibly difficult as they attack on the turn they spawn, but for me it was just glorious.

Alright, thanks for the feedback. You had me at Chryssalids. :D

They're pretty self-explanatory-- Bladestorm activates whenever an opponent enters melee range (or performs a melee attack) and Implacable allows you one move after killing an enemy.

As for which is better? I prefer Implacable, because I haven't found the sword to be very reliable. Bladestorm is pretty damn good against the stun guys (forget name) and Chryssalids, though.

Bladestorm is crap because it requires the sword and the to hit ratio with sword is rubbish.

It doesn't. Just end the turn when that move is the only thing you have left.

Implacable means the next hit against you will be a miss and most rangers get melee'd by tough aliens.. so it's saving 50% of their health minimum.
You're thinking of "Untouchable".

You can end the turn by pressing End-key on the keyboard, or pressing the X up right, that way you don't have to use that move.

You're talking about Shadowstep. Implacable allows you to move again after scoring a kill.

Implecable is better. A free move to get into cover (or retreat) after slashing is NICE.

Bladestorm is a defensive skill (wait to be attacked, ugh). Also, there is no guarentee your Ranger will be in position for Bladestorm to trigger. Might be handy in some rare situations but I dunno.

Nope, Shadowstep lets you ignore reaction fire and overwatch :)

Yeh this should be down as a bug as you can't exit the function. Without just ending the turn.

Yeh only it never works.

Completely depends on ranger type. There's literally no point not taking bladestorm if you went with the melee path because you have untouchable, and deep cover is counter intuitive to you.

Otherwise, if you're a scout phantom, you may as well take implacable.

Bladestorm only with Blademaster, without it the damage is bad.
