How do I skulljack?

I'm lost. I reduced the enemy to 1 health and ran up with a skulljack and the option is greyed out. What am I supposed to do to skulljack?

What enemy are you trying to skulljack? If I remember the cinematics only Human Advent soldiers can be skulljacked.

There's achievement for skulljacking every single advent enemy but I can never use the ability again after I did it for the first time to discover the advent facility

Maybe you're standing diagonally. Not sure if it counts as "melee range" at that point.

I don't think you need to actually deal damage ahead of time. I had my Ranger lurk nearby till they were within melee range. The attempt had a 70% success chance. Maybe try without getting them so close to death? But I only attempted it on the officer, not a regular soldier.

Edit: You may also have to further develop the Skulljack. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Yea, I did it for the mission that required it, but can't seem to get it to work now.

have you equipped it? sorry but only thing i can think of,. oh and i know the ranger seems the obvious choice but it is a hacking operation so specialists are actually better at it.

I researched it, and equipped it in the field. I've tried it on numerous ADVANT knuckleheads and I'm not getting the option to use it. At this point, I'm just going to forget that objective and continue to play the game without it.

Skulljacking only worked vs Advent Officers. Skullmining, OTOH, works against any troops (I think). But the jacks are only viable for use against the officers (until you develop Skullmining).

This is how I understood it as well, not that I have managed skulljack an advent Officer yet, I am researching Skullmining at the moment.

It was the Advant officer was trying it on. So I guess it was just that mission that was bugged. I went onto another one and it worked just fine. Who knows...

Hey just to clarify you will NOT be able to skulljack any enemy outside of the first officer, until you research skullmining on the proving grounds, once you do that, you can skulljack once per mission for an insta kill against any advent enemy type.

protip: Skulljacking is an instant kill on an Advent soldier if it hits, you don't need to damage the enemy first.
