Black screen then crashes the pc

When I click play it loads a black screen then crashes my whole pc, only way to get out of it is to press the power switch on the tower it's self and force a shutdown.
Is this one of the bugs that is with the game or my pc it's self? I've not had this trouble with any other game crashing the whole pc before, normally I can at least get back to the desktop via the windows key and end things via task manager.

I had the same issue on my side. Black screen then had to shut down the computer manually. I tried again but managed to get a glimpse of the main menu then crash again and back to the desktop

I have this issue as well...and what is worse is that it destabilized my windows in the process. After three attempts I finally let it log in under safe mode to stabilize the reboot...and now it will load up my OS fine but the game still crashes with black screen. I have verified files...and it first informed me I had 2 files that were bad and had to reacquire. I let it do so...but still no change...now says I have 1 file but every time I try to make it download....it just tries to launch the game and fails with the black screen again. What gives?

I got blackscreens of death after finishing a mission.
Are those driver issues? Besides why does the game use 6gb Ram? This stinks of a memory leak. when i manage to tab to the crashed game it complains about not having enough memory. I'll monitor the memory usage, maybe i can pinpoint where it goes all to ♥♥♥♥.
I was using steam streaming at the time, so maybe this has something todo with it.

#Edit:
At the sequence where the squad members disembark after a mission it uses instantly 2gb more memory.
200mb for the map screen and another 400mb when starting a mission.
After i got back to the base screen I had already 4gb use.
Something is fishy...

Lol, now I started the mission and steam crashed, taking the game with it.
I think i speak for alot of us: @Devs We love XCOM but this nonsense cant fly, please get your asses into high gear and fix it asap.

still waiting on a good fix. none of the things mentioned over by alot of other players didnt work for me.

o yea, black screens - just ctrl-alt-del and end process. no need to restart the whole unit.

I got 2 screens, sometimes killing the process works. Other times both screens go black and I can't do anything anymore. ^^

atleast it seems you got to play abit - you lucky person T.T i hope you could send some my way. i want to play this game already and see how things really are when inside.

ctrl-alt-del doesnt seem to work :-(

be wary of googling xcom2 and black screen...only hits are to trick you into downloading a patch but is only a virus and it will pwn your system

i fixed it by delete in \Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\SaveData profile.bin file
