Not launching

my game wont launch iv reinstalled and verified. i hit play my icon goes green and it say xcom 2 starting then nothing happens. my icon goes back to blue, BUT this one time is said finishing install 1% then promptly didnt open

I have the exact same problem. Only three ways I can see to fix it. Either go through and find xcom2 and run it compatability mode, or may need to fiddle with the direct X files a little (they may not have fully installed additionaly redownloading wont help if thats the case), or the game is a direct x 11 and is incompatible with your video card.

im running a gtx 970
when i try and launch it it doesnt show up in task manager

Game will not start. I get the following errors after clicking "play" on the splash screen "Minimum of DirectX 10.1 Required". Then it goes to "completing installation". After it reaches 1% another error appears "The Steam servers are too busy to handle your request for XCOM 2. Error Code (41). I have updated all my drivers, deleted the clientregistry.blob file, verified game files twice (both times it had to download a file it could not verify).

Like you I tried just about everything under the sun, in the end I got rid of error #41 by turning off Windows Defender and Windows Firewall both. Now I have a completely different error, but it's progress of a sort I guess ...

i just found out that my graphics card (GTX260) does not support directx 10.1 so, i have requested a refund.

Check to see if any of your other games are having similar launch issues. I was having the same problem (game doesn't even open up a launcher, no error message, nothing) and I tried to launch BoI to see if it was an XCOM specific problem, but nothing in my library was working. If that is the case, completely close Steam and reopen it. Problem should be gone. It seems like a stupidly simple fix, but it worked for me.

Alas, im having the same difficulty. i've tried everything under the sun, now im waiting for either a patch that fixes it, or some sort of answer from my 2k support ticket that closes the issue.

same problem for me... reinstalled , verified , got system req covered : 3.5 I5, gtx 960 4g, 16g ddr3, etc... everything else runs fine. Hey 2K, WTF over?

so far there are over FOUR HUNDRED of us in tiniturtle's "game crash on launch" thread.... just sayin.

same problem, black screen after play on the launcher, couldn't fix it by verifying the cache, reinstalling the game, reinstalling direct X and repairing the microsoft c++ x86 and x64
just found some crap virus fake patch on internet
im on windows 7 SP1
please help, someone knox if 2k or firaxis are patching thos problems by the hour ??

I found the fix in another thread (at least for me) ok so after I went into :
C\programfiles(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\xcom2\commonredist\ then there are a couple folders Directx , dotnet and vcredist . in each of those three folders there are several executables (among a whole mess of other stuff) and after I went through and ran each of those executables and let them "repair" their own instalations (from when the game had installed itself) then after all that and a reboot... mine is now fine. hope this helps for you guys.
