XCOM 2
Codex is so unnecessarily strong right now
For those of you who are about to spit in my face "ohh be gud at the game ya baby" listen to my reasoning. First of all, this enemy can teleport, which renders your cover useless while codex finds a perfect full cover to shoot your agents in the neck. And then, as if thats not enough, teleportation does not trigger overwatch. And then, as if THAT isnt enough, codex has a shi*tload of hp and is very likely to show up on every mission rated moderate and difficult.
Hands up if you think the same.

even on easy difficulty it has dirty tricks that sometime cant be evaded at all ..
Yup, codex ain't messing around. Real action economy abuser. Is it vulnerable to combat protocol?

You forgot to mention that not only does teleport not trigger overwatch, but it also doesn't count as a costly action, so they can attack immediately afterwards...

capacitor discharge stops them using their abilities

Honestly the codex isn't that hard just focus it down quickly try the andromedon though it has 4 armor about 25 hp and you have to kill it twice

It can get hit by it, but it doesn't take any bonus damage from it or anything.

The problem of codex is that it can teleport and get free flank shots.
There's no way or at least no obvious way to defend on this.

I don't understand why you'd think they're super OP? I've never had a Codex actually attack me in the game yet. Since it can't teleport during your turn, why would you think teleportation is OP...unless you are literally turtling overwatching on every single character? I sent my ranger to run up to the Codex and she one shot it in my latest match...but when I first met the codex, you hit it and if you weaken it it splits...but it spends its turn splitting and both of the splits are one shots now? So you've got 2 turns to kill it without any risk as long as you hit something at some point.

I mean, if you're so unlucky that you're missing almost every shot then why not throw some grenades at it for guarenteed damage or do you not bring the grenadiers with you either? I'm not sure why people are complaining about certain enemies...did you immediately rush the story mode exclusive research and objectives that spawn this enemy without doing anything else?

If you played the first XCOM you'd know that the best way to play this game is to do as much side objectives and missions as possible before you're ready to move onto the tougher things. I had the second shotgun by the time I fought the codex and exo suits available, so my character was doing 6-8 damage to it and I grenaded it so it had no cover so my other guys were much more likely to kill it.

Why are you even overwatching against a codex anyway? You have to be up close to initiate the skull jack so wouldn't your men all be close enough to kill it? You did clear out all the aliens before you jacked right?

Uh, I ran into it twice so far in my various playthroughs. I just blast it with a rocket launcher from my X-suit or smack it with a robot and it dies? Where is the difficulty? It splits and loses half its hp?

Don't forget clone, which while it halves its current hp to create another, essentially doubles your enemies. The first codex I killed cloned itself 3 times.

Overwatch is useless, just prepare your squad to take it down fast.

First codex Action will always be to disable weapons in a wide area, so spread your troops.
Then Shot one time with your strongest shooter, goal is to down a max of HP on first shot.

When hit, the codex Clone himself, but !
The clone get Half of his current hp.
If codex is at 1 HP, he teleport instead of cloning (no HP to share)

Case 1 :
-If you shot hard right at the start, the clone should die immediatly on the next shot, as he don't have lot of HP

Case 2 : Clone as more HP thant your max damage possibility, repeat base process.

Jack can one shot Codex, but surpise butt sex await you :p

Generally speaking you have two turns to kill it. The turn you discover it. It will then do the disable weapon vortex, and then you get your second turn.

As pointed out, you'll want to do the most damage you can in the first shot, then post split neither copy will have much health.

A note of caution. Never attack a codex on an ambush. It will clone ... and the ambush will end. Aliens don't scatter, your squad doesn't take overwatch shots, and then it's the enemies turn where they finally will move (but you no longer have overwatch) and you have two codexs. Learned that the hard way, and you better believe I reloaded. I'll accept a failure, but BS like that I have no reservations of reloading.

ive never even been hit by one before.... just gotta kill it before it has a chance to attack like everything else. or prepare defenses.

i have been hit by the disable weapons effect but that was pointless cause i spread my soldiers out and move in a sweeping motion across the map, generally you only want to be packed together when evacing or if you are setting up overwatch crossfires.

True I cried for joy when one of my specialists got an execution kill on one of them. She actually went on to do it 3 more times in my campaign.
