Amar, Chitto, Nishimura? (Protagonists of XCOM 2: Resurrection)
Do the protagonists of XCOM 2: Resurrection make an appearance in the game at all?

I ask because I noticed that the memorial wall begins empty, I was hoping that Lena, Dr. Shen, Sam and the others that died during the Avengers AI attack Would have been up on the memorial wall to begin with.

Nope, sadly I dunno

Ahh well, this doesn't seem like a topic most care about at the moment. XD

Well I'm almost at the point where I think I can answer this question, and the answer seems to be a big fat "NOPE!"

That's a real shame, so many people involved with the discovery of the Avenger and yet almost all get completely forgotten. The term CORE seems to have been forgotten too. There's even dialogue in the game that makes it seem like they only just found out what ADVENT soldiers look like in the game itself when in the book they seemed to have known for a while already.

Firaxis, if you're going to ask us to pay for a prequel book, please do a better job of meshing it with the game.

And now that I've finished the game I'm pretty certain the events of the book never actually happened.

The game doesn't even try to explain the contagion which was never resolved in the book as if it was meant to be resolved in the game.

So if you feel you might be missing out on something by not reading the book, don't. It's an alright read but it veers off into a direction the game never bothers to follow up on.

I guess that will be part of Shen's Last Gift DLC. Or it will be Xcom 2 expansion pack stuff.
Can somebody create them in the character editor and share them with us? :D

Not officially, no.

I did use them for almost the entirety of my Commander Ironman playthrough though. Nishmura ded.

PS: Amar probably should be a Psi Op instead.

Actually, the book is definitely canon. Admittedly, the references are relatively brief and mostly cameo.

For instance, the game ALWAYS starts in India (where Avenger was found in the book) and then flies to wherever the random XCOM base is.

Contagion is also mentioned briefly in some scan events. For instance, there is one scan event for Intel that describes the crystal samples being collected for Tygan. I get the feeling we definitely haven't seen the last of it.

Finally, as for Advent's appearance, while it's known to active Resistance fighters like Amar, it wouldn't have been as evident to someone like Bradford who's pretty much been out of action until right before XCOM 2.

The book was narratively kind of meh, but got me a greater understanding of XCOM 2's plot. That is why I want those characters in my pool :D

perhaps what happenned in the book.... was Amar was actually captured by the aliens and what he believes he was experiencing was actually a simulation....

seriously, I would at least expect them to be in the bar or at least a small reference like they set up a resistance HQ somewhere in India as they definitely can't be your starting "rookies"
