XCOM 2

Important for SLI and 4K users!
Hey guys, I hope everyone is having fun with the newly released XCOM! As a 4K user and someone who owns two GTX980s I was pretty annoyed with how the game does not support 4K or SLI out of the box. However, as this is Unreal Engine 3.0, both issues are easily fixed.

First off, download Nvidia Inspector and simply copy/paste the SLI profile from XCOM: Enemy Unknown into the blank SLI profile of XCOM 2. Save your changes and enjoy the performance boost. Keep in mind that the X: EU SLI profile mentions "FOUR" GPUs, I set mine to two and saved it that way in the inspector. Set this up accordingly!

Boot up the game and configure it. Set the resolution to whatever you desire and save these options. Quit out of the game and go to your XCOM 2 folder within the Steamapps directory. In here search for your set resolution (1920 or 2560 I.e.) which should bring up an .INI file with the word "Engine" in the title.

Open this file and search for ResX and ResY. Set accordingly (in this case 3840 and 2160), hit save and set the file to read only. Next time you boot the game it'll both use SLI and 4K.

Edit: For lazy gamers;

Open the Nvidia Inspector. See the tools icon next to your driver version? Click that, then navigate to the profile bar and search for XCOM 2. Then Look for the green arrow pointing down on a drive, it's on the same bar as the name of your profiles. Here you can import a profile.

Download the NIP file from here; http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/541395/XCOM%202.nip and hit apply changes. Happy gaming!

Hope this will help a few people out and enjoy the game! Most of all, I hope developers see how quickly I came up with this and scratch themselves on the head a couple of times before releasing a game. It's the small things that make a huge difference in PC gaming compared to consoles, and it would be nice to see all future games support SLI and Crossfire. 4K should be a mandatory option too. Here's hoping one day things will be different!

That seems too easy a fix

Totally, was happy to see how easy it was to fix. Most Unreal Engine 3.0 games are fixable like this, though, so it didn't take me too long to figure out how to do it. My SLI performance went from 10-20% to almost 100% constantly.

I'm gonna add a little bit of information on that solution. I don't know how to copy the whole profile, so if you're as dumb as me - do it manually)

1. Change this 2 lines in Compatibility section:

SLI compatibility bits(DX1x): 0x000000F5 (The Talos Principle, Nurien-Mstar, etc)
SLI compatibility bits: 0x02402005 (Sanctum, UAZ Racing 4x4, rFactor 2, etc)

2. Change this 4 lines from SLI section:

NVIDIA predefined number of GPUs to use on SLI rendering mode on DirectX 10:
SLI_PREDEFINED_GPU_COUNT_DX10_TWO

NVIDIA predefined number of GPUs to use on SLI rendering mode:
SLI_PREDEFINED_GPU_COUNT_TWO

NVIDIA predefined SLI mode on DirectX 10:
10 SLI_PREDEFINED_MODE_DX10_FORCE_AFR

NVIDIA predefined SLI mode:
SLI_PREDEFINED_MODE_FORCE_AFR2

3. Press "Apply changes" button.

SLI is working now(2 gpu), maybe not perfect but still much better.

SLI disables the cover icons :( just like XCOM EU

Is there a fix for this?

It works perfectly.

It's the first time I use nvidia Inspector and I've a doubt: the changes are aply to all games or only for the one you choose in the Inspector (in this case XCom 2)?

In that case - only for the game which you have chosen. But if you want to make global changes for all games - there is a global profile too.

not running SLI. but i do have a 980 GTX TI. The game runs like crap in 4k resolutions for me but it was definitely able to do it out of the box. Your desktop just has to be set to the 4k resolution and the option appears in game.

Is the SLI part that isnt allowed?

Any chance this will be done officially soon so I don't have to bother with this stuff? It seems like if it's so easy they would have just released a profile for it day 1.

Maybe in upcoming nvidia drivers it will be done. The problem is - this is not the first time when easy solutions aren't made by developers. Fallout 4 has the same problems too, no sli support at release, but easy to turn it on by yourself.

Can anyone confirm this? It's weird that it would do that.

I was playing XCOM1 this week using SLI w/o any cover icon issues.

I can confirm it. But I was thinking that it is normal and icons just not in the game anymore.)) All I can say - that is not a big problem at all.
