Maximum resolution is 1920x1080 when I have a 2560x1440 monitor

The first world problems are strong in this thread.

1080p is a fine resolution to play at. Would 4K look better? Probably.
But don't spit in 1080p's face just because you have something that can do better.

When someone with the game unlocked has a chance, could you tell us which specific .ini file it is and what line of the file it is? I could find it, but it's still region locked here and it'd be great to toggle that when I crank it up without having to spend 10 minutes looking around in the config.

I disagree with you on top of the fact that you're clearly trolling. I don't mind you're trolling, man, you're responsable for your own actions, but that is what's going on. Why is clarity such a bad thing?

Sounds like a menu glitch. 1440p was absolutely available even in the Preview build.

heres how to change the resolution.

1. open the XComEngine.ini with notepad (Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Config)

2. press ctrl+f search for "MaxAllowableResolutionX" change 0 to desired resolution. in my case is 2560 so it would be "MaxAllowableResolutionX=2560"

3. do the same for "MaxAllowableResolutionY" again, mine would be MaxAllowableResolutionY=1440

4. save the .ini file.

that should be it. now u can change the resolution in-game. if you want to play on a high resolution, do the steps again and put in a higher resolution number.

Good point, well at the least it would be at the start not burried in a thread three pages in.

1440p is the current sweet spot when it comes to single GPU gaming. 1080p is far from being the standard anymore when top of the line monitors with 980ti's are pushing 1440p/144hz easily. It is a HUGE improvement to gaming. Don't bash it because you have never tried it. For this option to not be in the menu is a huge dissapointment. PC gaming is all about customization. Stop bashing others because you don't have the option to play on a high end PC.


1440p/144hz gsync is absolutely beautiful and smooth as butter when it comes to PC gaming. I could never go back to 1080p/60hz.

1440p is really demanding in XCOM2 and even GTX 980's have to struggle there if details are maxed out ;)

Yeah, my 2560x1440 resolution option was available, though that doesn't seem to be the case for everyone else.
