No, WOTC is separate. But you can play Alien Hunters in either the base game or in WOTC.

I disabled the Alien Hunter DLC for my first WOTC run - was that a good idea or not? I'm now missing out on ice granates?

Also: What is the difference between "integrating DLC" and just enabling the DLC? I really don't wanna see Alien Hunters spawn in a game that already got Chosen in it - not on my first WOTC playthrough ^^"

Integrate means that the bosses appear on three Alien Facility missions (it's included in info of said facilities but I'm not sure if you need an upgrade on your base to see that info or not). Disabling integration and enabling the dlc one by one makes them available through a special mission, optional to do, it will be on the globe forever if you want to prepare or ignore it completely. Non-integrated dlc is actually harder - very prolonged missions, one of which has a MEGA-SUPER-Sectopod as endboss.

I'd argue that it doesn't make it harder.
The Shen mission can be a shock if you go in blind, but it's why I recommend not doing it until they have at least some bluescreen rounds, take a bunch of your best and to avoid using any explosives until the third act.
It's also a lot easier once you realise just how OP Shen is.

It does however make the Alien hunters side of things far easier, as this way you don't have to fight giant aliens until *you* want to, and no sooner. Also you get the weapons for free.

You don't enable or disable DLC from the game, the only way to completely disable a DLC is to uninstall it through Steam. When you start a campaign you can enable or disable the DLC mission, but the rest of the content will be there in some form regardless of what you select.
