They are a strong opener against a pod, especially the second or third pod of the map if your reaper is still concealed.
A pod is what the small groups of enemies are called.
cheers
1. Approach enemies with a Reaper, end turn.
2. Next turn: throw Claymore with your first action and shoot it with your second action. Damage is higher than a grenade, the shot does not reveal the Reaper.
The Claymore can also be detonated with a grenade, dealing damage that's enough to instakill most enemies early game.
When you get Remote Start, you can also combine Claymore with Remote Start for the same effect.
When/if you unlock multiple Claymores, you can combine them and deal even more damage.
Late game you can also get Homing Mine, which attaches the Claymore to an enemy. It seems pointless on the first glance, but it means you can detonate the Claymore by shooting the enemy rather than the Claymore, so you will also deal damage from the shot. Also, Homing Mine can be thrown a much longer distance than a Claymore. And shots with Homing Mine cannot miss, so like even a disoriented poisoned Ranger can hit a shot half across the map, adding shotgun damage to the mine, so it's pretty amazing.
1. Throw claymore,
2. See no line of sight to claymore
3. curse
When the reaper shoots it, they won't be revealed so it can be pretty great to take a whole pod out before any of your troops are seen by the enemy.
