Dragon Rounds vs. Venom Rounds
I like using one of these on a sniper because they're able to spread the status effect around to multiple enemies really well. When I have both, I find it hard to choose which is better. Fire does potentially more dmg per tick and disables special abilities but poison debuffs their accuracy. The black market offers $30 for venom rounds and $25 for dragon rounds so apparently the game considers venom rounds to be better (or maybe they're rarer?).

If you like to use one of these, which do you prefer?

Burning
Is cleared upon entering water
Damage Over Time (varies, depending on source)
Prevents use of all non-passive Abilities except: Interact, Hunker Down, Medkit Heal Use, EVACing, Melee Attacks, Gremlin Heal commands, and Shooting.

Poisoned
-30 Aim
-4 Mobility (Tiles)
Damage Over Time (can vary, depending on source)
Spreads to Adjacent Units (Yes, even Vipers'. I realize this makes no sense)

I use dragon rounds on my sharpshooters regardless of spec.
Dont use venom rounds at all.
AP or preferably Talon on my Rangers.
Everyone else gets blue screen.

Dragon is good for enemies to lock down enemies with special abilities (as noted). But they may also drop those last hp from any enemy - so even a non-crit shot have a high chance of 1-shotting an enemy.
Viper is good for enemies that one just can't kill in one round. They will have decreased accuracy and the poison may actually also take off the last hp and kill them with no further hits.

So, at mid-game dragon gets competive with viper. During start and midgame viper is best. Also note they both seem to improve with weapon tier - they get 1-3 extra damager per tier.

I am pretty sure this is not the case. Dragon rounds and Venom rounds have the same damage potential. The only difference is the special effect applied.

Oh, that's cool. I guess I've just been unlucky with them so far.

Quite possible. The duration is random (1-2 rounds or 1-3 rounds, I forget) but the range should be the same for both types of ammo.

That's what scopes and PCS:Perception are for.

As for dragon vs venom they are both good. If I had to choose, I'd go Dragon for locking down Psi enemies.

Tracer rounds are great, especially early game, I usually like to put them on grenadiers. Sometimes I use them on a gunner grenadier all the way through the game cause it's great to have 90-100% chance on chain shot.
