Best AWC perk combinations
So on my latest run I got the Death From Above perk on my ranger. He was already a killing machine, always critting organics and almost always criting bots/advent behind low cover. But this perk just made him so over the top OP. You definitely need to equip spider/wraith armor on this guy. He now has over double the amount of kills as my serial sniper - who previously had the kill lead.

What AWC perks have you gotten that nearly broke the game?

Also, quick question: if you get serial on a ranger, does it give you a blue move if you kill a target as Death From Above does? Or do you just get a yellow move?

Serial replenishes every action spent shooting from my experience. So you will have blue move as long as you had it before you made your shot.

I still think DFA may be more powerful since it has no cooldown but that's good to know.

Actually it has an interesting interaction with implacable. So the first kill you get, if you are in a yellow move you replenish the shot and get the extra move from implacable, so you'll get the blue move back (this only works with the first kill). It's actually pretty powerfull: Move, kill, kill, move, kill, kill, move.

Serial has a 5 turn cooldown and needs to be activated on the first move because its a sniper ability, it gives you back the 1 move from the shotgun blast, if you have 2 moves when you do it, you end up with 2 moves +1 unplaceable. unplaceable only rolls once per turn.

its basically like Death from above except it doesnt' require elevation and has a 5 turn cooldown.

depends on the map which is better.

Anyways.

Haven't gotten a sniper with shredder ammo or holo target, but I'm told its possible.
Got one with Hail of bullets which apparently can be used post move if you wanted to move and shoot your sniper. not at squadsight ranges. I think rapid fire/chainshot might be the only sniper abilitys to work with squadsight.

I've gotten a specialist with Rupture, unplacable and untouchable. all good (for skulljacking)
Got one with Kill Zone I haven't tried out, (but specialists can crit on overwatch so thats probably good)

Grenadier uh.... can't remember any good combos.

I got a sniper with shredder. I put AP ammo on her and she was amazing. Still though, my DFA ranger is much better IMO.

Oh and just for comparison sake, even if you do a run and gun and dash before shooting, killing something resets you back to blue as if you hadn't moved at all. Then you can blue move again and kill - which resets it back to blue.

I like run & gun on my grenadier.

Salvo + run & gun + chain shot

launch a grenade, run wherever you need to go even if its far away, unleash a double shot; you can take down a good number of things solo this way

there might be better, but it's been useful

Serial on a shotgun-built Ranger.
gimmethegepgun Jul 14, 2016 @ 12:56am
Run and Gun on a sniper was insanity. What Run and Gun does is it treats your soldier as having 1 more action point available for using skills than they actually do. What this means is that a sniper rifle can be fired with RnG after a blue move. Or after reloading. Or after DFA.
I think once I used Serial with full ammo (6). I killed 6 enemies, then I reloaded, used RnG, and killed everything else. Now, yes, that could be done with an autoloader, but that means you don't have a scope. Which sucks, since that's 15 or 20 less aim (note that scopes give an extra +5 against flanked targets)

I've been getting Rangers with Rupture quite often in my games lately, and its been a great help in destroying tanky targets (especially Rulers) very quickly and efficiently.
learnedhand Jul 14, 2016 @ 6:15am
no rapid fire love? To me that is the best bonus skill. Being able to put down the biggest threats within a single game turn or action allows you to handle everything in the game.
Eggy Jul 14, 2016 @ 6:39am
If find rapid fire to be the best on most classes. It allows you the biggest gauranteed damage output with no down time.

Hail Of Bullets was good on my blue screen specialist.

Also getting the Overwatch Skill from AWS on a specialist when I allready had the other overwatch skill was pretty good. She became an overwatch god.

I'm not sure it would work that well on a Grenadier, as they have neither the ammo nor the accuracy to compensate. It is a flatly great skill though. IMHO it's tied with Rupture for being the best AWC skill a Specialist can get.

Top kek :steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

Didn't even realise that was possible - I thought AWC skills were exclusively taken from outside the class of the soldier who'd gotten it.

It works on Grenadier in that it is objectively superior to Chain Shot.

I got shredder on my ranger and serial on a grenadier... Was a great run ;)
