But unless you're using a mod that allows the rulers to restore HP, 3 to 5 encounters will be enough to deal with him.
Wait they don't restore HP between fights? Thank you!
That would be brutal. However, like I said, some poeple want them that way and there are mods in the Workshop to do so)
I assumed they did.. I'm still of the opinion that the archon king would be just about immortal if it did so I'm just gonna pass on such mods.
Alas, in my experimentation with the bastard, neither fire nor flashbangs would hinder him in the least beyond the latter reducing his movement (and presumably accuracy) somewhat.
They run when you take off a line of their health. Since they don't regen you just wittle them down over time if you need to.
In my first play through I had a similar experience, I took out the viper on first encounter. The berserker I executed while it was running for the portal (lucky overwatch shot) and the archon took me 2 encounters (the 2nd one was during the avenger defense swarm), stupid boss was the only one who almost made it to the ramp.
If you look in the games .ini files under cofiguration, the boltcaster has a 50% default stun rate versus the rulers. Whether you actually manage to trigger that 50%... that's xom baby, the dice rolls don't always go in your favor, but yea it is technically a higher % than versus anything else, its just not guaranteed (though if you wanted to make it higher you can just edit the file)
