Do grenades now destroy loot?
Killing an enemy with a grenade sometimes say that the loot got destroyed
I don't think it's caused by a mod, I only have 2 cosmetic mods installed

Grenades have always destroyed loot.

You only get the notification if that specific enemy would have dropped loot had you killed it using anything other than explosives.

It is a base game feature. If you kill an enemy with an explosion the mission loot drop is destroyed (assuming the killed enemy was carrying said drop).

guess I just never had it happen to me before

Any way of knowing which ennemy drops the loot?

Fuuny glitch regarding destroyed loot though...

If a Sectoid reanimates a dead unit whose loot was destroyed, with the aid of alien sorcery, the loot also gets "reanimated" i.e. it becomes available again :)

It's more that Explosives, in general, destroy loot.
Which isn't to say that it's caused by explosive damage (it's not, Plasma Grenades cause plasma damage and they destroy it) or necessarily explosions (shredder/shredstorm destroy as well, and probably flamethrower. Plasma Blaster MIGHT not but who would go through the agony of testing with that piece of junk anyway?)
Really it's explosives (including explosive terrain) and heavy weapons.
All the more reason to jump on the psionic choo choo train.

It's basically just a way of balancing explosives early game when your soldiers struggle to hit ADVENT troopers at point-blank range but grenades will one-shot them.

Which is where the most difficult change of Commander comes in: 4 health troopers.

Also a side note, the damage over time effects of experimental grenades don't destroy loot.
