I can't tell you how balanced they are, if at all, but these two are the most popular class mods in the workshop atm

Escalation Classes (2 IN ONE)
Lucubrations classes
-Sniper
-infantry

And if you want a buggier but a fun class mod try the necromancer

I would also recommend these

Warden and trooper classes are good

I did a playthrough on C/I using lucubrations sniper/infantry, Rogue, default Grenadier, and a ninja. It performed well as a 6 man team as long as you don't mind getting right next to a hack objective with rogue.

I've been looking for a really solid replacement for Grenadier to use, since they are near mandatory unless you use some sort of thrown grenade mod.

I've tried Trooper and rouge. Bother are good and pretty blanced. I feel the trooper is little bit OP due to lucky shot, as they are all ready deadly. Rouge is fun, though situational. They can't really do anything a stealth assualt can't do

I'd recommend the Field Medic and Infantry class.

Use the Grenadier/Gunner separation class mod by -bg-, alongside Lucubration's Escalation, Infantry, & Sniper classes. Install MorePods & IESS+, and enjoy Long War.

i'm looking more for additional classes instead of rip existing classes apart. and to be honest, just adding more of the same is a bit lame for the possibilities the mod support gives. would like to use spectres mod but its not finished and polished enough at the moment, so i go with better advent and some other tweaks like soldier fatigue and hidden potential (which are in my opinion much more important for a long war feeling than just more enemies) to enhance the game and not just make it harder

Now I know what I'm doing with my next playthrough...

I'd recommend Advent Ascension. It's a fantastic mod that adds 24 specialised Advent troopers to mostly replace regular Advent troops and sometimes stunlancers. It spices up the gameplay and increases the difficulty quite a bit. The new soldiers are all colour coded and have specififc roles and perks. The Lightbringer is white and throws flashbangs. The Purple Shadow Assassin Stunlancers don't trigger overwatch. The Brightred Inferno Blasters use flame throwers and incindenary grenades. Etc.

you should take a look at the better advent mod, it does basically the same (not so much variants with very limited roles) but adds additional new alien types

I never said I didn't run any of those. My campaign has almost all of the difficulty increasing mods merged with one another, but you asked for class mods. Grenadier/Gunner separation is important because it splits the one trick pony role of a Grenadier superceding almost all of the vanilla classes and makes 'em very useful as supports/dedicated demolition with grenade damage fall off.

I'll check it out and I'll try playing with it a little but I prefer the idea of Advent Ascension.
