Download Time
I purchased the game, but was surprised when I saw the download would take 1 day, 16 hours. Granted this could be due to a poor internet provider package, quality of the server, or internet traffic -- but I am surprised. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is that the time it predicts based on your current download speed, or the time it says when you first start it?
Because the time when you first start the download is based on a pretty slow speed.

That is the time based on my current download speed -- because it fluctuates based on that moment's download rate.

The game is pretty large I give you that.

I originally tired to use the 4 box DVD disks to install the game, and that took ~3 hours only for the installer to break down during the finishing touches and loosing all progress.

I then decided to use a download instead which turned out to be roughly at fast with the added benefit of being able to interrupt it at any point.

1 day 16 hours seems extremely slow.

So it's not a server issue with Steam, right? You all typically get better download speeds than 250 kbps?

Yes. Much. 20-odd Mbps.

24 hours later, the game said it was prepping to run, then it started another download that is apparently never going to complete. I keep seeing 5 minutes then I come back and it said 15 hours. WTF?

I feel your pain. I have crappy internet, so am looking at ~3 days to pull in the 30 ish gb of data. Assuming the whole string and can doesnt break mid way. Still - at least I have food and am unlikely to be eaten by lions or press-ganged into some warlord's junta.

If you're DLing through steam it can't get interrupted with outtages. You can stop/resume at any time you deem necessary
