XCOM 2

How do you fast forward time while at base?
In previous xcom games, we could fast forward time while waiting for events. In xcom 2, I can't find the way to do this. They can't really expect me to wait an actual 2 days to build this or research that... There must be a time forward key or something...

go to the bridge (the holo globe) and you can pass time either by scanning at various locations for rewards (if available) or by scanning at resistance HQ (for intel, faster recovery, or for faster building, but I just leave it on intel).

making contact with new regions and building relays also will pass time at the same fast forward speed as the various scanning options.

If you're advancing time without being at some scanning site, you're wasting time.

^^ that. If there's no beacons to investigate and you can't contact a new area for whatever reason, go back to Resistance HQ and scan for intel.

A bit offtopic, bit related... I am about to end the game, bit wasting as much time as posible in hope to get a vip mission to get back a captured colonel. But nothing barely pops up anymore :(
