2.) Use grenades liberally. On Normal, a grenade hit is an instant kill vs an Advent trooper, and since each of your guys has one, that means you start the mission with 4 guaranteed kills with no risk of missing. That second mission, like many you will see, starts your party out concealed. This is great for easily wiping out the first pod you see, because before they see you they won't scatter. This means a grenade can hit all 3 enemies, and depending on the difficulty kill several of them right away, making finishing off the rest a breeze. If done right, that first pod you ambush can get killed without them even getting a shot off.
3.) Regarding accuracy, grenades again. Grenades destroy cover; even if they don't kill their target outright they'll destroy whatever he was hiding behind, letting your other guys finish him off more easily. With this in mind be careful of the order that you attack; always attack with stuff that is removing cover first so the other guys who may not have grenades left can finish them off.
Xcom 2 needs you to play more tacticaly and more aggresively.
Look at it this way. You have a roster of about 15 troops. Your picking 4-6 of them and sending them on missions in enemy turf against 2-1 and 3-1 odds.
Some of them may be fully trained soldiers with years of battle experience.
From the BIOs, some of them are clearly not.
What are the chances that everyone is coming home alive?
Predator - Mostly all dead.
Aliens - Mostly all dead.
Use cover all the time. If your guy is not in cover they will die.
Destroy cover all the time. If an enemy is not in cover they will die, most of the time.
Overwatch is not your goto skill. It should only be used as a last resort when you have assesed every other option.
Choose the correct tools for the job. On the earlier levels this is always GRENADES.
You get to instigate combat from a postion of stealth. Use nade on the close grouped pack for your first move and then pick off the leftovers with the rest of your squad. Make sure the next packs are always triggered either on there move or at the begining of yours. If you trigger a new pod with the last man of your turn your dead.
Pay attenention to the enemy skills. HINT if possible kill officers first at the begining. The mark skill gives all the enemy troopers +HIT%.
Dont waste moves on low percentage shots. Its better to hunker down or move to different cover.
Always look for a flank/height advantage.
I cant remeber the specifics of the tutorial/early missions on the easier difficultys. But im 99.9% sure its geared up so that you can finish the first mission with all your guys alive. Promote them all and then take the non injured ones on the next mission.
You're doing too many things wrong.
Would be easier for you to just see what proper play looks like.
Yeah i ll go check up legend mode on youtube when i will be a bit more aware of all ingame function.
EDIT: Just tried the grenades i couldn t have guess they were so powerful at the beginning, was thinking more about it to deal little area damage or destroy covers; the mission i was talking about became a piece of cake, thx.
