Mofify/Remove exploding cars
Is there a way to remove car explosions. Its... stupid how cars explode so quickly in this game.

Or you could not stand next to them when you know a fight's about to start. I got hit by cars during my first playthrough, but almost never since. It's just a practice thing.

Imo, if a car is about to blow, there should be a 50% chance to blow on the end of alien activity and 50% on the beginning of it, if it is not totaled because of gunfire or explosions.

Don't use cars as cover ever?

Pretty simple and easy to avoid.

General rules are, if a car's engine is on fire, it will explode at the end of an enemy turn. Also, generally, another explosion like a grenade or a stray shot or aoe attack will explode a car if the engine is already sparking/on fire.

You can apparently invoke car explosions by using the grenadier's demolition ability that destroys cover, not sure if it blows it right away or it has to be sparking first, possibly the same with the hail of bullets skill too. You'd have to look those up because im strictly supression/holo targeting myself so ive never mesed with those skills

Also I'm pretty sure the cars run on elerium batteries now which would probably explain the tendency to explode so hard in 2 I suppose. Not sure about 1, maybe they were all stuffed with oily rags and gunpowder

there really isn't a lot of car use combat that ive had to do... typically though cars will detonate one turn later after it gets hit hard enough to catch fire... if hit again during same turn usually detonates upon second connect. rarely but it can happen that a car can detonate upon 1 large hit...also though to think about sometimes a fire next to a car can cause detonation if it spreads. i think 2 spaces inbetween a car and a unit is safe enough to not get detonated by a car explosion.

oh and also rarely your own units using a car for cover can also damage a car shooting though it which will ultimately guarantee car detonation on own units.

I'd like to turn them off because I've had really weird stuff happen with cars, like taking cover behind a perfectly fine car that's not on fire or anything, no enemies even active. Then it blows up on the next turn. Unless the aliens are rigging cars with explosives now?

Might as well avoid roofs too, those are more useful but you'll be taking fall damage if anyone shoots at you they always shoot the floor from me. My XCOM soldiers when shooting up always aim for the sun. but the aliens they'll shoot me off the roof most times they take a shot.

Surprised there's not a mod for this out there. Having these giant bombs scattered around every city street is silly and annoying. It's not even a question of difficulty; it's just ... tiresome.

Hurray for necroposting on an old thread talking about something nobody who is competent enough with the game finds nothing worrisome :P

Gig Gud chump, also as several people who posted on this dumb thread said. Don't use cars as cover often :P

lol. Seriously though, the exploding cars and collapsing roofs are meant for players to use. Can do tons of dmg to enemies by getting them onto a roof or near cars.

Competence with game mechanics aside, I would like to be able to change either the amount of damage it takes to cause a vehicle explosion, or change (or randomize!) the amount of time it takes for a vehicle to explode. Given how mod friendly the development was I am surprised if there is not a way to modify this particular gameplay mechanic.

"It's not a question of difficulty; it's just tiresome." I guess you (not you, Behrg) missed that part.

My e-peen is nice and big just like yours. I would still like to be able to mod this out.
