Did I miss out on anything from letting viper king get away the first time?
Went into mission blind, 2nd highest difficulty (don't remember what it's called), handled everything. Luckily had an acid 'nade for his highness, but then I saw how the viper king works and I regret not bringing my 'nadier (not even sure if I could freeze it with freeze bombs).

Do I miss out on anything by letting him get away? Will I in fact get another chance? How soon?

Nothing really, because the fight with him is scripted for him to get away during that mission. Much so when you foolishly went into the mission extremely early on.

However... should you "Glitch out" and kill him (by means of Repeater execution) the first time you meet him, you will be treated with a bugged out double dose of the cutscene where Bradford realizes who the frozen researcher was. Well that was what happened to me that one time that is.

Actually you can kill it the first time you fight it. I did at least.

I did too, he was at full health and it was death by Superior Repeater Execution... pretty anti-climactic really...

Well I wouldn't say I went in extremely early. I got magnetic weapons, and a few OP leutenants.

So the story continues should he get away.
I assume the story pretends it escaped even if you did kill it?

The Viper king will be back. After three times, he will escape for good. Once the viper king is either killed or escaped for good, the next ruler will show up within one or two missions. Same deal, you have up to 3 appearances to take them down. The the final ruler will start appearing. There is an achievement for killing the viper king in one go, that is the only thing you missed.

To kill it in first encounter with basic weapons I did it like this: level up all floor around spawn location (strip him from cover and grant 100% shoot chance to Yours squad) and turn all your soldiers to a overwatch. This will take at least 1/3 of his HP on startup without trigering his Rule. Next attack him with Colonel's sword. Than use granadier chain shot and follow up with a sword attack from Ranger with a bladstorm ability. At this point King probbaly will start to retrat through portal but because of proximity to a 2 rangers with a bladestrom he will triger 2 extra sword attacks.
