XCOM 2
Controller Issues
I started XCOM 2 up today for the first time since ... 2017 or so and I was surprised that my PS4 controller didn't work as expected. Maybe I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure I actually played the game with a gamepad only back in the day ... did they change something about the controller settings?

In the options menu I the "Input Device" section is grayed out and the only selection is "mouse" even though the PS4 controller is recognized and I can actually use it to control the game. It just doesn't work as I'd expect (e.g. in the menus I have to move the cursor manually instead of being able to jump to the different buttons directly, in combat mission I get no grid-snapping behavior).

Are XBOX controllers supported fully? I had one of those two, but it broke down a while ago. It's entirely possible I used that one to play last time.

EDIT: Or maybe I'm just confused and I suffered through the controls the last time I played!? ^^

I was never able to get my PS4 controller to work with any of my PC stuff - I eventually bought an XBOX clone controller, and it has generally worked, although I use KB/Mouse with this game and have never tried the controller.

I've been using the DS4 for most games since two years or so and it usually works really well (with just the official Steam drivers). I would recommend giving it another shot ... just not for XCOM 2 :D

Thanks I'll try that out. If anyone is interested, here is an updated fork of the original DS4Windows repository:

Update:

The game can be controlled properly with a DS4 gamepad by using DS4Windows (https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4Windows).

Also, you might find my mod useful if you encounter the bug with grappling hooks::
