Should I get conceal or run and gun?
I feel like I should get run and gun just for the nostalgia, but on a ranger built for concealment, I feel like the ability to gain 25 aim and crit chance on demand or the ability to scout for enemy could be better than run and gun. What is your thought on these abilities?

It depends on your playstyle. I do both. :-)

I currently have two rangers in alpha and beta squad. One with run and gun and one with conceal.

The concealed one does the scouting and is a high hitter when firing from concealment. Usually 1 or 2 instant kills per mission. But much less shots overall.

The run and gun one is the close range fighter, especially with impleccable and untouchable later, who usually gets the last shot on weakened enemies and serves to draw fire at the front line.

Run and gun all the way. The mobility is always useful.

Run n Gun. Always. Combined with "rapid fire", you then have the option to double time to a target and shoot them twice in one turn. Major game winning tactic right there.

quite litterally if you are up to last mission. Speaking from experience here

Yeah, Run and gun and rapid fire.

Shot the final enemy I needed to win the game, took it down to 2 pips from full.

With untouchable and unplacable you don't need a scout after first contact you get a tank. Toss on a PCS that adds dodge and some War suit armor and the Ranger can stand outside of cover tanking hits for godsakes.

After the +10aim buff to Blademaster significantly improved the value (reliability) of Slash i felt comfortable trying a playthrough where i only selected Conceal on my Rangers. I did made a switch to Run&Gun and Rapid Fire late in the game - one 1 assault - when i decided to do the Alien Nest mission and activate the rulers.

Previous to this recent game i rarely used Phantom and never used Conceal.

I enjoyed using Conceal in this latest playthrough. If nothing else it helped speed up my play because i could comfortably and safely scout. There were times when i wished an assault had Run&Gun but i felt comfortable with my overall team firepower. Concealment does pair nicely with your Sniper for overwatch trap triggers and ease of Killzone setup - so offensive value is added there.

I like Conceal far more than Phantom. It's really nice to be able to use your Ranger to attack the first pod (or all pods) and simply switch to concealment for scouting at your leisure. But Run&Gun is a top-tier perk so of course you give up something to get something.

I like both skills. Default squad for me at this point would probably include 2 Rangers - 1 with Run&Gun, 1 with Conceal.

Depends on mission type.

For escort vip mission, supply raid, and retaliation - phantom/conceal with sniper is king since it reduces the chance that the Advent will hit you to almost naught. Especially when you are really out of their range, they will confuse and run around since they are unable to find you.

Be mindful that phantom alone will cut the number of 'active' troop to squad-1.

For time sensitive mission or lengthy mission (the snake king, spark, and last mission) run and gun + rapid fire is better since run and gun can somewhat replace phantom (move, detect the enemy, the squad rain hell on them, run and gun, move back to good cover) or work as a hunter/killer role by flanking and rapidfire.

IMO, make one of each. You won't regret it. Sometimes I bring both of them in the same mission for lol.

I always go Conceal. You already have a sort of run-n-gun with your slash ability, and conceal can enable some serious up-close damage output.

I prefer conceal because i like to do sneaky stuff. Also its nice to spot enemies to pick off with snipers.

A ranger with conceal can be great for scouting out pods and sneaking into alien facilities to plant X4 charges, but effectively leaves you down one trooper for most of the mission. On my last playthrough using long war perks and classes, I had one shinobi for sneaking / reaping and one assault with 2x run n gun for close combat DPS.

Personally I prefer my ranger as a shadow man that scout and picks off enemies when needed,so conceal for me (going either way is nice though)

Both. Run&Gun + Serum is nice for taking down the last avatar.

Early game on Legend my first two rangers are often phantom + conceal, it helps so much with retaliation and other timed missions, and one of them is often injured. Third is run&gun. Then if i can buy 4th one already leveled, it's run&gun. Otherwise i retrain and keep one with conceal.

And obviously shadow strike with conceal, otherwise it's not worth it.

Shadow step is better with run&gun.
