Lazarus Project 3rd mission.
I normally play the campaign on Hard difficulty, but i've been playing the Tactical Legacy Pack on Normal, since i just want to get the clothes for the main campaign. I've had no problem with the other 3 stories, but then the Lazarus Project comes around. First 2 missions, perfectly fine, breezing through pretty easily like ever other one.

But then the 3rd mission. Oh my god, what the ♥♥♥♥!

How the hell are you supposed to do this. I can't attack one pod at a time, because they all decide to clump up into one super pod. Tried just sneaking and putting the bomb on then legging it, but that reveals the entire squad, so everyone gets jumped.
This wouldn't be too hard, but it's not given me anywhere near good enough gear to deal with them. Even tried using litterally every explosive i had (including the mine and a car they were standing next to) to try and kill the pods. But, nothing.
I kill a few of the weaker aliens, But the Berserkers, Codex, and a few soldiers survive, and proceed to smash my 4 guys into the ground. A Berserker almost one-shots a soldier, and they're then finished off by any other alien. Even if i managed to survive their turn, and then somehow kill the remaining Aliens. There's at least 1 more pod to deal with.
Seriously, how do you deal with Berserkers and Codex's at this tier of gear? Even hacking a Mech doesn't help, since it's destroyed in 1 or 2 shots by the aliens. And hacking it reveals my guys.

Lazarus Project definitely feels like the weakest of the 4 campaigns. It is pretty clearly set up to be a "stealth focused" campaign (reaper, both rangers take various conceal bonuses), which mostly shows how the stealth system in the game has some serious flaws.
Advent doesn't notice you running past 3 feet away from them, but attach a bomb to their device while they aren't nearby at all? Suddenly they know where you are.
Hack a robot and disable it? Doesn't break concealment. Hack a robot and take control of it? Magic, they know where you are!
The codex, amongst other aliens, shows off some of the "uhh what?" inconsistencies. Codex takes damage from EMP grenades and bluescreen rounds, but doesn't take extra damage from combat protocol or static discharge? So.... is it robotic or not? Gatekeeper has similar oddities.

Hilariously, I discovered Shen has a voiceline that points out how ill equipped the squad is in that campaign. Took a hit, and she calls out "Rover, better get that medikit ready...". Yes, Shen, I would LOVE it if you actually carried a medikit!

So don't worry, you aren't the only one that Lazarus Project is making feel salty. I did notice that the evac point on the 3rd mission is surprisingly close to the bomb spot, so you might try stealthing over there, planting the bomb and just running for it?

Lul, i just barely passed it only by losing 2 men and 1 unconsious for the entire mission.
I did get the cluster pods. And feel super lucky to clear the stage by killing everything.
I think you should snipe the first pod at the 1st turn to avoid the super pod forming.
Dont blow up the car.
Btw idk why but one of those berserker hitting their own MeC during my playthru.
Also, killing the priest while he channel divine warrior will kill the object.
Selecting Ammo upgrade at the previous mission also help to one hit kill the codex (talon rounds at critical), and regular ADVENT soldier.
Story difficulty tho.

It's certainly a tough one. Main problem of this series is the terrible selection of characters and abilities.

Your reaper seriously needs to have remote start in this mission but you don't get that. Just a weak claymore. I used that and it just caused the survivors to pull back and cluster with the rest of the enemies. And no healer in the last two stories which sucks.

I did beat this mission in one go. Reaper died, templar went unconcious and couldn't revive him since no healer. Had some luck though, I tried to get some to come to me. Picked the fight from a distance. Hacked the mech so they wasted some attacks firing on it and killed it themselves.
I did have some luck there, expected Kelly to die but several shots missed.

well, that's quite a spicy one
my way: takes forever, but you can clear the map without some luck
swing around the left side and go to the other end of map, at the back of cannon/bus
from there, pull one pod at a time carefully, hope to get lucky with the berserkers, i didn't, bradford ko'd, and templar wounded, didn't bother to pull the last one

p.s this squad sucks big time

Eventually you do get a grenadier but you seriously need one here.

A lot of it is just the equipment. With the equipment it gives you, in a regular game, the most HP pods you'd be facing would be a Berserker, and a Soldier (maybe Advanced). But one of the pods is 2 Berserkers, and an Advanced Soldier.
But even just with a Shrapnel Claymore, it'd be sooo much easier. Throw a Claymore into the super pod, then huck a nade on top of it while they're next to a car. 3-4 Damage on most of them from the nade, 6 or so to everyone from the Claymore, and 6 or so to those next to the car. That'd kill the Mech, and the Soldiers, potentially kill the Codex, and mess up the Berserkers, which could then be finished off with Shotguns from point-blank.
But without Shrapnel, there's just not enough AOE damage to deal with the Advanced Soldiers.
But, now that i know where the exit is. I'm just going to sneak around, sit in the exit point. Then place the X4 and run, i don't care about score.

I still got near gold score on the final three stories. The first one was hard to do that since you didnt get concealment or any scout.

I won't bother to get gold though, it's pointless. I already have all the unlocks.

I got gold fairly easily in the last campaign, even though I skipped all the pods in mission 3, ran past everything on the edge of the map and then just blew up the artillery piece with my reaper. Mimic beacons in case you're spotted help, too. The gold threshold is low enough you can pretty much 'skip' the entirity of this mission's spawns if you want. No big deal.

The last mission had three Avatars swarming me with each leading an Advent pod. Three men died, three survived by the skin of their teeth but at least Bradford got his prize. The lack of a medic really hurt in many points along the way. Getting a Viper poison on 2-3 soldiers could mean the end and the Reaper was for some reason the weakest in any of the campaigns. I got the unlockable, but it was not really fun with so uneven a challenge.

I've been fortunate on the last mission, I fought pods one at a time so everyone survived. Sounds pretty horrible that three men died and three where badly wounded for such a trivial thing.

It's hillarious by the way that Dr Tygan's nickname is Hamburglar.

Anyone have any idea what the ♥♥♥♥ is up with the ending to the last mission?

(Spoilers if you've not finished it)

Why did ADVENT have a Bradford sweater in a Tank? Is it just a joke, or is there something i'm missing.
gigamelon1981 Oct 11, 2018 @ 12:34pm
The tank used to store the human specimen to revive the elder no?
Do this count as double spoiler? Well if the first question answer is yes.

3rd mission, snipe out the soldiers in the first pack, then try a double explosive shot at the next 2 and lean on the mimic beacons. 1st time I pulled 3 pods, 2nd I took minor damage from the purifiers when I got sloppy late.

These missions are "war stories", there is a certain amount of "embellishment" to be expected.

I just got the gold medal on lazarus nightmare. For the first two missions I recommend the getting the mimic beacon for the rangers. On the third mission, use combat protocal from a very long distance to only trigger one pod. They should have to sprint to get to you so you can do a round of overwatching. Other than that use mimic beacons.

The squad you get is pretty weak, you can make ambushes with the claymore combined with a grenade from the templar for 8 damage each and you can also use sword ambushes with bradford who has bladestorm. Both of those work even on the very first mission. For the first few missions to deal with turrets have the templar rend them and move out of range of them.

On this one I walked into all 3 pods at once, and went "Oh ♥♥♥♥", all but one of my people (my Templar) died and I just took a beeline for the objective and managed to escape.

I have no idea how you might be able to do it properly.
