Assuming you created your characters in game (or are using game-generated ones), you just go into your latest save, go into your armory, go into character info for each soldier, and in the first section (where you can edit their name) at the bottom you can Save to Character Pool. Then they'll automatically be there for your next campaign.
the game will also include randomly generated soldiers if you either have too small a pool, or have it set to be a mix. might need to wait a bit to find them.
I do have it on that. But that's the thing, I'm trying to get them into a pool to begin with.
And... how does one do that? I don't think OneDrive is active on there, as while I do have it on my computer I almost never log into it as I have to re-log into it each time I restart. But, you know, better safe than sorry.
I did try your suggestion, and sadly it didn't work. As for the .bin file you mentioned, it was not a bin but a .TLE file for some reason... Same name though, but it was only for WOTC instead of both it and Vanilla, unless if that is supposed to happen.
Well, did it. Still no luck when I tried it.
At least I didnt even need OneDrive. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me, and I have so little use for it anyhow.
That sounds wrong, c&p that file and rename the TLE extension back to .bin and try again.
The fact that its changed seems like you have some iso/backup software or something take control of .bin file associations.
Yea, I thought something was wrong with the file, Never heard of a .TLE before. But, you know, might as well make sure.
If you go into Character Pool from the main menu -- on the starting screen where you can start a new game or load a save, there's an option for Character Pool, I don't mean within an active game in the armory. If you click on that and it's empty, then you have no character pool, they haven't saved. If your characters are there, select one of them and check if they have a specified class. Try setting a few of them to "Rookie" as soldier class, start a new game, and see if they show up on Gatecrasher.
(Sorry I can't figure out how to post a screenshot, I'm a noob to these boards).
Well, several things there.
1. You can't put screenshots, unless if it's a Steam Images link I believe. You can put other website links, but only Steam Links show a preview.
2. That "Class" slection in the character pool just has the "View As" thing, it doesnt do anything else but seeing the character as that class, unless if you have a mod to make the said class a priority after Gatecrasher. They still show up otherwise.
And 3, with:
That's the problem I'm having now. They do show up there, but only if I manually save them from a loaded game. Rebooting the game seems to delete those, and not save them to a Character Pool, like I'm trying to do to prevent that.
Well, it seems to worked partially, as I can finally save soldier's appearances.
However, the problem with the character pools themselves persists as I still cannot make/remove pools except by going into the files to do that, nor can I add soldiers to an existing pool.
I'm not sure WHY the .bin was changed into a .TLE, but at least it was an easy fix on that part. Still not really done yet though due to the problem with the pools themselves...
