AML is not needed, I have over 2000 hrs of play time with over 100 mods
and never used it. A simple desktop shortcut is all you need.

Are you somehow making money off pushing the AML I've seen you down talk the 2K launcher many many times, maybe learn how you can use it to play the game. Just like using the AML it's a work-around, using the old launcher shortcut is also a work-around. Stop complaining about it the just let people use what ever they like to use.
AML is a community project, currently maintained by just one person out of the goodness of their heart. It's not commercial in any way. Nobody makes money off of it.
Like you, I'm simply a person who wants to help people resolve their problems and let them enjoy the wonderful experience that is playing XCOM 2 with mods. Except unlike you I have used all three launchers and I can judge objectively which is better.
The fact that the phrase "learn to use it" can be applied to an official mod launcher is a testament to what a disaster it is. It should work out of the box. At least the old vanilla launcher didn't have those kinds of issues.
Personally I'm using AML because it's (A) better in every way when it comes to playing and (B) better in every way when it comes to making mods, which is what I spend the majority of time on. The first reason is why I recommend everybody to use it, as it resolves so many mod-related issues automatically.
I'm perfectly fine with letting people use what they want to use. It's great that you have found a way for the default launcher to work and sharing it with people. Just please stop saying things like "AML is not needed". You don't know what you're missing out on. You don't know what you're telling other people to miss out on. And whatever AML can and cannot do, whatever issues it has or doesn't have, should have absolutely no bearing to your instructions on how to make the default launcher work.
But well You're free to not use it but You miss an amazing launcher. I just thanks the guy making it just for my QoL and for the other users as well.
