2K needs to fix this ASAP.
I did, they just gave me the same advice as in those guides.
XCOM2 is installed on F: drive, and in the same folder i also have AML installed.
Here is a screen from the LWOTC Github wiki on how the settings tab should look like after you install AML.

In the screenshot the second path from the mod directories is for mods that are not from the workshop.
After you setup AML select the mods that you want to use, activate them and launch what game you want (XCOM 2 or WOTC) from the launcher.
