yes i find them annoying now too. Especially when they are bugged out like dashing very far and hit you.

Try the total conversion mod Long War 2

Go to the Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config folder and open DefaultGameData.ini in Notepad.

Ctrl+F for LostLoudSoundThreshold and change it from 30 to 100 or higher.
Also set LostMaxWaves=0.

They will still show up but will not endlessly spawn.

Always found them an interesting addition.

There is a mod that removes them from the game. I use it all the time as I find zombies silly and feel the most actually take away from the game rather than add to it

I think they're a nice change of pace. You have the one guaranteed Lost mission at the start, but otherwise, they only actually appear a few times per campaign, and usually as skippable guerilla OPs at that.

I agree. After the third mission with them they become really annoying. And it's not like they're a tough enemy, they just slow the game down to a crawl. It's just a ♥♥♥♥ addition that adds nothing of significance

Not a fan of the lost only missions as they generally are either, you destroy everything or get overwhelmed as it's mostly a damage and hitchance check (especially early). But in lost missions along with advent troops they can make the engagements much more interesting and fresh with some new and more unique situations.

I'd prefer they remain in the game.

My thought is, it can really test your problem solving and risk assessment strategies, but in a different way from the standard affair. Things like sound vs crowd control, vs what damage you could expect to take if you can't bring them all down in one turn versus taking none, vs using the horde against Advent, etc. All of this could be negated by getting the right resistance order at start, too.

Nevertheless, the devs couldn't possibly please everyone.

In all honesty, i find the lost boring to the point I never look forward to missions with them. Worse still is that Lost missions are hard as well ... well maybe not hard per se, more too restricting to deviate from the 1 strategy that makes the missions easier to survive.

I don't want to devise my entire strategy around ladders, but that's what lost missions typically boil down to. I've never felt satisfied beating a lost mission ... first few times sure, but these days they feel like a 9 to 5 event.

Do the lost attack Advent as well ? I just started the WoTC DLC and it is a really nice and runs a lot better

When you get late game on harder difficulties, this is like the most feasible way to train lower rank soldiers. So I like them for that. Good luck having a squaddie or even a corporal go toe to toe with a sectopod.

If you can just one-shot them all they are boring. At higher difficulty you have to make interesting choices to deal with them and that's what XCOM should be about.

No alien looks like them, no alien comes at you in a swarm, they add to the destroyed world taken over by aliens and their mechanics with chain-shot is fun, while their mechanic in regards to explosions is challenging.

I think they have their place in the alien roster and are one of the welcome additions that made WotC so much better than vanilla XCOM2.

My strategy early game is focused on building the GTS as soon as possible and feeding kills to my reaper beginning with Gatekeeper. The reaper can take out a whole pod with a claymore and remain concealed. One more kill and your reaper has four kills and a promotion to corporal.
I have had Gatekeeper missions in which the Reaper has all the kills, your rookies will be promoted. So if I do that early lost mission with at least one corporal I can feed that trooper kills so that they make sergeant and thus I have five soldiers for the first retaliation mission, which is handy when fighting the chosen with low ranked soldiers.
