Out of actions
I'm trying to rescue a scientist from an Advent prison. The mission is going splendidly, as I've wiped out all opposition. My dear scientist, however, refuses to move an inch just after leaving her cell. That is to say: she moves on the initial turn when she is released, but on all subsequent turns she has no more action points to spend (if I manually select her, I get an "Out of actions" message).

I've tried the following:
-restarting from prior saves within the mission and doing things differently (got the same result);
-leaving the scientist behind (the game gets stuck after all soldiers are safely extracted).

Things I haven't tried:
-restarting from a save prior to the mission (while still aboard the Avenger, for instance);
-blowing the scientist to kingdom come.

I'm quite confident that both of the options above will work, but then the whole point is moot.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

BTW, I'm playing non-Ironman WoTC on Classic (sp?) difficulty.

I had a similar issue with a capture the enemy VIP in a city. Once I got to the VIP, they just stood there. Made for great collateral damage; the windows got blown open and mutons poured in and there was mass hysteria -- except for the VIP. she was one cool chick; nothing phased her. Except for phasers. Then she died. Turns out the enemy AI wasn't really keen on saving her rear; less paperwork that way I guess.

I decided that in THAT case-- since it really didn't go as expected... I reloaded from a save in the geoscape prior to the start of that one and ate the replay time. a new mission triggered right away and it was for the same thing, on a different map, and it worked ok.

Yeah, scientists and engineers always have to have the moral high ground. Go to the extraction point? Just who do you think you are to order me around, Commander ? Let's see if the moral high ground provides cover from a grenade to the face.

And then I'll reload from a previous geoscape save file. Jesezus, saving humanity sometimes is a chore...

For WoTC, no.
For XCOM2, only "Disable Timers".

Heads-up: killed the scientist and was able to move on. However, on my next mission, after disarming a bomb and opening a crate, the end-mission won't trigger (icon won't turn green and soldiers get stuck in a loop of turns with nothing else to do). So, my guess is that something went seriously wrong. Going to delete all saves and start a new game.

Just leaving this here to see if it helps someone who is experiencing the same.

I just had this happen to me. So this bug is still present in the game as of Feb. 20th, 2019. I can't reload a previous save because it's ironman. Only way out of it was to use console commands to add action points to the VIP.

I have a ton of mods installed but nearly all of them are voice pack mods. Only other mods installed are one that removes most of the animations between turns, one that adds more camera positions, and overwatch all / evac all.

Same thing happened to me about an hour ago.
The mission was to free the VIP from the guarded van and to extract him/her. The VIP ran out of action points after its first move. Google'd a bit and found this thread

Luckily, I had an earlier save. Reloaded and went back to the Geoscape. I got a different kind of mission. The second time around, I had the VIP from the start. Finished the mission successfully :D

For the benefit of anyone who finds this thread, you can fix this with the console. Select the VIP, open the console and type GiveActionPoints 200
That should be enough action points for them to run anywhere on the map :)
