Ah yeah good point it was after the maintenance, thanks we will have to wait and see.

Yep, same here.

Same. Unfortunately I deleted the game and have to redownload the 35 gigs or whatever to install it again. Don't uninstall your game. Just wait. It might be related to a DDoS attack against Steam.

same issue here...

At first I found that I couldnt load the workshop, couldn't get anything apart from "No items match your search" or whatever it says.

Then I found that the game wouldn't launch, as others report.

So I disconnected WiFi and started in offline mode.

THe launcher ran, but I got the "couldnt determine which mods were loaded" (or whatever) message and there were no mods in the launcher list.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

I have been working with this problem since 8:30am trying to figure it out. Had the same ideas you had, offline mode- same results as yours, verify intergrity and system cache, which is acutally running again for the 3rd time, and inability to access the workshop with any reliability. Looks like "hurry up and wait" is the answer at this point.

Yeah, Steam's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ so it can't access the workshop, which is why the game won't open. Not much we can do besides wait for Steam to sort itself out.

The DDoS attack was supposedly stopped. Hopefully the game is running again shortly.

Edit: If there ever was an attack. Who knows. Seems to be an issue with the workshop, either way.

Alternative option: download an alternative mod launcher. Should be able to run the game just fine.

You can just google "XCOM 2 alternative mod launcher" and find one, I think there are a few.

won't even load thought this was something to do with my laptop :(

you can bypass it when you go in your game folder in steamapps/common/xcom2/binaries and launch the game directly
you wont be able to change the mod loadout and will have to deal with some bs but it can run
