XCOM 2
Hellweave vest officially sucks!!!!
I have been playing XCOM 2 since day 1 but had never tried a Helllweave vest before. It returns damage to any melee attacker.

I put one on one of my skirmishers and the first mission I use a melee attack against an archon. Naturally I miss, because skirmishers suck at melee. Now what happens I wish I had a video of.

-The archon uses his melee attack against my skirmisher,
-he takes damage from the hellweave,
-gets frenzy so he gets another attack

This process repeats 5 times until the skirmisher, max level, with power armor, is dead.

I am never putting a hellweave vest on again.

Hm. Probably a bug or an oversight...
Its still useful against all other melee units though.
Which include: lancers, lost, andromedon shell, chrysalids, berserkers...
Hell, even mutons since they love to use bayonet if its possible.

Main kek: i never knew what Archon's "frenzy" did... Until this post.

I'm sorry but this is absolutely hilarious

Never used it myself. Does it do damage before the attacker does? Because then it would theoretically be good vs. Lost and combined with Bladestorm for a guaranteed kill.

No, it only sets them on fire AFTER an attack

I believe it does damage after the attack landed, since you know... The enemy must touch the thing to get set on fire. Its not like it just explodes with fire due to enemy's close presence.

Pfffft, to hell with hellweave then.

The intention was probably any melee attacker can't attack when set on fire, that's how it used to work. Now someone thought to be funny and removed burn from disabling melee attack and here we are =)

I mean it really wasn't ever good...

Well the whole burning not disabling melees actually works both ways though. There have been times i'm glad my ranger can still dash and slash after being burned instead of hunkering down.

Lol. That's funny, but also BS. It's not your fault that happened. It should have been addressed in development in my opinion. It might be okay to use if your shadow chamber doesn't show an Archon on the mission.

to bad it doesnt reduce melee dmg like chitin armor from Xcom EU

It's not bad if used in the right situations (fighting Chryssalids and Lost) especially since Lost are weak to fire. I like to use it on Rangers and Templars who'll be engaged in melee with these foes anyway.
